Rwanda Chapel Young Architects Competitions whit arch. Nicola Brembilla | HYPNOS studio

RWANDA The design of the Rwanda Chapel is based on formal essentiality and constructive simplicity. The technical difficulties and the scarcity of resources of the African context have guided us towards a primordial architecture, made up of blocks laid one on top of the other. Earth bricks dried in furnace for the outside facade and raw earth bricks dried at the sun for the inside walls. Above a reinforced concrete frame all along the grounf oor, all the masses works only by compression, discharging the weights towards the ground. The ďŹ gure of the Trinitarian triangle slope upwards spontaneously. An archetype always present in the Catholic churches of Africa. The church has a basilical plan of absolute rarefaction: central nave and two side aisles, with a narrower and raised presbytery, which is natural illuminated by deep lateral cuts. The bell tower is incorporated into the façade. Together with the entrance portal in bronze, they are the only external elements that act as a material counterpoint to the earth facade.

Minawao MASTER'S DEGREE THESIS Supervisor: Marco Baccarelli Advisor: Beatrice Galimberti

CAMEROON The average time a refugee stays in a refugee camp today is 17 years, whole generations are born, grow up and will probably die inside the camp. It is no longer possible to speak of emergency, but it becomes necessary to think of refugee camps as a reality that over the years acquires an identity of sedentariness. Once the moment of crisis has passed, the return to normalization becomes fundamental. On 2 July 2013, UNHCR to cope with the growing number of displaced Nigerians eeing the rage of Boko Haram opens the Minawao refugee camp. Located in the Far-North region of Cameroon, today it hosts a total of 52,987 refugees,. UNHCR, together with NGOs and local governments, seeks to ensure primary needs, provision of food and water, ensure the safety and protection of those at risk, health care and education. The project, starting from an analysis of the camp, redesigning the planimetry from satellite images, analyzing the data and the problems. The goal is to create spaces for socialization, such as the market, places of prayer and training, trying to develop the services and infrastructure of the camp. The idea is to use poor materials found locally and simple construction techniques with the aim of involving refugees in the construction of structures, so as to build themselves a community.

MILANO RWANDA The project consists of the construction of a new middel school that replaces the existing structure, which is in serious structural degradation. The new school complex is characterized by the union of four different buildings connected together by the atrium, which acts as a multifunctional space. The two south-facing bodies house the classroom, the third block is occupied of the gym and the last one from the auditorium and administrative offices. The structure has been designed to have natural ventilation thanks to the double exposure of the individual volumes. The green roofs and the choice to create a central patio involve, like the ventilated faรงade, advantages in bioclimatic terms and the well-being of the users.

INDEFINITO What is contemporary living? What is it that makes a home our home? In the course of our lives we accumulate objects that tell of us, that remind us of someone or something. we replenish our homes, some use them every day, others never. Imagine a world where suddenly, as in a dream, everything disappears and remain we and our objects, which represent our lives and tell our stories. What would we do? This is what we have imagined ourselves, a world where everyone rebuilds their home starting from the objects we have accumulated for years.

Forte di Fuentes POLITECNICO DI MILANO Restoration design Laboratory

COLICO (Lc) The goal is to give new life to the Fort of Fuentes, a 17th century Spanish military building. The project has two objectives, the first is to ensure that the restoration is not invasive and that the new structures remain hidden from the ruins. The second wants instead to make the Fort a new cultural pole where different activities can coexist. The project is spread over two different routes, the first runs through the history of the Fort of Fuentes, the second involves a cognitive journey on the traditional culture of buckwheat, a typical Valtellina product. The idea is to create an interactive exhibition itinerary that, through the five senses, tells the buckwheat production cycle.

MOLINA ATERNO (Aq) Molina Aterno is a small town located in the heart of Abruzzo in the SirenteVelino natural park and subject to strong depopulation, as is typical of the inland villages of central-southern Italy. The project aims to give new life to the town's railway station, unused today if not for a small waiting room, to transform it into an attractive and multi-functional center. The project consists of creating an educational and cognitive center where the visitors walks through a series of environments. through the ďŹ ve senses, they rediscover agriculture and typical products. The structure thus becomes a place of visit for schools, but also for the tourists who visit the valley and the natural park.

Art e graphic

Below are reported various artistic works made with different techniques that I have learned over the years. Drawing has always been a passion of mine and during my university education I also became passionate about graphics. I experimented with different techniques, some learned during my studies and others for personal interest, from oil painting, to watercolors, to graphic illustrations. This passion has always played a fundamental role, both in my training as an architect and in my personal growth. I hope you like them!
