Unless one of the above dynamics is indicated, all notes should be played circa p, being in the immediate region of p, not louder than smp or quieter than sp. 3/5:4

Every note should be played poco a poco diminuendo; at no point should a note be sustained at a static dynamic. The diminuendi should be gradual, dying away faster for higher pitched notes than lower. However, they should only fade to nothing when specifically indicated by the dim. al niente symbol: ; where this symbol is not used, the notes must   still be audible (albeit perhaps very soft) when their duration ends.







The score is notated in C. Due to the prevalance of very high and very low pitches, and in order to avoid excessive ledger lines and ottava indications, octave transposition clefs are widely distributed throughout the score. Aside from these octave transpositions, all instruments are written at sounding pitch.
