The sung text consists of an anglicised fragment from the title, broken down into its four component phonemes, namely two plosives: k - as in sky, crack ʈ - as in tie, sty, cat one nasal: n - as in nigh, snide, can one vowel: ʌ - as in strut, mud, dull

grouping

The twelve singers are grouped into a variety of ensembles throughout the piece. Each of these ensembles is in rhythmic unison, & they get progressively larger in size: start 12 × 1 A 6 × 2 B 4 × 3 C 3 × 4 D 2 × 6 E 1 × 12
