BACKGROUND

Temescal Brewery has been deeply shaped by Oakland values: the pursuit of innovation and a spirit of diversification. They believe that beer can catalyze communities and bring people together. This project re-imagines their brand and packaging system. APPROACH

The inspiration for this design was the vibrant and multicultural community of people that gravitates towards Temescal Brewery. Each beer variety is paired with a fictional character whose image and personality matches their corresponding beer. 06

The Sky Is Too Small is an editorial book exploring the phases of bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic depressive illness. APPROACH

The book was designed to mimic the experience of living with bipolar and the mood swings that accompany the course of this mental condition. The experience is both visual and emotional.

The sky is too small is a comprehensive guide designed both for people who are experiencing bipolar disorder and those close to them. Bipolar disorder, or what was formally known as manic depressive illness, is the chameleon of psychiatric disorders. Its symptoms can change from one patient to the next and from one episode of illness to the next. It is a phantom that can sneak up on its victim cloaked in the darkness of their melancholy but then disappear for years at a time, only to return in the resplendent but fiery robes of mania. This book was styled as a person who has bipolar episodes, stressing the manic and the depressed phases page by page. The experience delivered to the reader will be visually and also emotionally what a bipolar person feels during the course of his mental condition.

A conceptual typographic conference about Dyslexia, a neurological disorder that causes a disconnection between language and visual processing that makes it difficult for the brain to process the written word. APPROACH

The concept was to visually interpret how dyslexic people perceive and experience typography by simulating the effects of the disorder and how it impairs the ability to read. It also reimagines different solutions that could be applied to typefaces to make reading easier for those who are struggling with Dyslexia.

For this project, I had to choose an already existing brand and re-imagine how the brand might create a product series in a new market. APPROACH

I chose Samsung, a leading electronics company, and I created a line of adult toys products. The result was an edgy, provoking, and elegant design in line with the company’s brand. The goal was to elevate this category and create a memorable unboxing experience.

Leonardo is a limited edition collection of high-end colored pencils. The structure is made of maple wood and is entirely laser cut. APPROACH

The idea behind Leonardo is that it is more than a set of coloring pencils; it is a decorative case that also functions as an organizer. The biggest challenge for this project was planning and constructing a three-dimensional object.

For this project, the goal was to design a mobile application and develop a thoughtful and engaging user experience. APPROACH

Because it is difficult to find and logistically organize humanitarian aid after a natural disaster, I came up with the idea of an application called Mobilize. Thanks to a simple and intuitive yet trustworthy design, people are able to financially support victims of natural disasters.
