Created using Rhinoceros 4.0 and Grasshopper 3D, the Charcoal Lamp was conceived to project ambient light across an auditorium. A simple trangulated surface is bent and folded to create a dynamic three dimensional form which is punctured by light wells that aligns itself along the spine of the form. Each light well allows ambient light to flow out from its glowing center. Gaps along the edge of the surface allows the residual light to wash across the surface it is attached on, creating a subtle luminous atmosphere.
