library management both in school and from off‐campus. In this second year of use we were able to further integrate all of the wonderful aspects of this program into our curriculum. With Destiny, students are able to: o Search for websites and resources from our ELM database collection in addition to books in our collection o Create book lists from home or school o Request a “hold” for a book o Recommend a book to a teacher or friend o View recommendations from others o “Star” review books they have read and think others would enjoy o View Accelerated Reader information In the coming year we intend to add: o The ability for students to write recommendations that would appear in the library catalog o The ability to view video links in the form of book trailers that highlight new books o A way for students to create their own book trailers that would appear in our library catalog Pine Meadow’s PTO organization was very supportive of the school library program as was evidenced by their numerous donations to the program. PTO supported teachers by paying for online subscriptions to: o CultureGrams: whole school license o Reading AZ: ten user licenses for individual classrooms o Edhelper: ten user licenses for individual classrooms o Enchanted Learning: whole school license o Tumblebooks: whole school license During the spring, 2010 session I taught a course for St. Cloud State University titled IM 622: Selection and Evaluation of Media Materials. This summer I will be teaching a course in SCSU’s first summer session: IM 502: Theory, Research and Practice. I will be overseeing PME’s open library program that provides library checkout for students 10 hours per week. I am also opening the media center for student checkout during summer school. On June 26 – 30 I will be traveling to Denver, CO to attend ISTE’s Annual Conference: Exploring Excellence. At that time I will continue into the second year of my term as ISTE SIGMS (Special Interest Group: Media Specialists) Communications Chairperson (a two‐year term of office in an international organization of over 3500 members).
