Sid Sidebottom MP

… for a fair go in Braddon

Media Release – May 31, 2010

Find out more about super-fast broadband People in the Circular Head community have a chance to find out more about the benefits for super-fast broadband this Thursday night in Smithton. Federal Member for Braddon, Sid Sidebottom MP, said the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy had organised a community information session for the region. “This is all about telling people more on the opportunities and benefits that high speed broadband can offer,” Mr Sidebottom said. “The forum could be particularly interesting for small and medium sized business in the area, to get more information about the business opportunities which may emerge from a fast connection to the rest of the globe.” The night will include a presentation and examples of the opportunities presented by broadband and the potential it offers. “People will also be able to be part of a question and answer session with representatives of NBN Tasmania, the company established to roll out the National Broadband Network in Tasmania,” he said. Mr Sidebottom said that as Smithton was one of the first three communities in Tasmania to be part of the broadband roll-out, he hoped that many people would take advantage of this opportunity to find out more. “I know the area is one of innovators, even if we don’t always hear about it, and that they will look to find out more about what broadband can offer,” he said. The forum will be held at Tall Timbers this Thursday, June 3, from 6pm, with registration from 5.15pm. More information is available online at www.dbcde.gov.au/broadbandcommunityforums
