The School of Humanities at Seton Hill
s a student in Seton Hillâ€™s School of Humanities you will learn to engage with meaningful issues that will impact the world. Expert faculty - who are published novelists, poets and writers; researchers; historians and political scientists â€“ will partner with you in learning, guide you on trips in the U.S. and abroad, and personally advise you on the courses and internships that will help you meet your goals. In the School of Humanities you will benefit from relevant majors that are designed to pair well with majors in other Schools at Seton Hill. Digital Humanities for Business & Design (B.A.)
Specializations in Creative Professional Writing; Graphic Design, Web Design & Branding; and Integrated Business, Marketing & Communication
For traditional full-time undergraduates
Digital humanities is grounded in interdisciplinary collaboration between the Humanities and the Schools of Business and Visual and Performing Arts. Humanities coursework in literature, philosophy, history, religion, and cultural studies will provide an essential foundation in storytelling, empathy, ethics, intercultural competence and critical thinking that enhances digital-age and entrepreneurial skills in other disciplines. As a digital humanities major you will complete two internships (once as -2-
a new student and again in the final academic year) within a student-run design firm that will serve the needs of nonprofits and emerging businesses in the local community. Through this experience you will apply learning from coursework in humanities, business and graphic design to tell the stories of local organizations in compelling and ethical ways.
Travel the World & Earn College Credits At Seton Hill, you are eligible to study abroad starting in your first year. We’ll help you create the study abroad experience that works best for you – short trips or for a semester. Study abroad opportunities include study in China, Italy, Argentina, Ireland, England, France, Spain and South Africa.
Earn an M.F.A. in Writing Popular Fiction
Seton Hill’s unique Writing Popular Fiction M.F.A. is offered mostly online, with two weeklong on-campus residencies every year. Through this program, you will write at least one novel and also learn the basics of marketing, publishing and teaching fiction writing. You can get involved with this program as an undergraduate, too. Plus, if you decide to enroll in this graduate program after you complete your bachelor's at Seton Hill, you'll receive a special alumni tuition rate!
