THE VERTICAL CLIMB Designing for NASA Space Shuttle Endevour ACADEMIC WORK

I N F E R E N C E S F R O M S I T E A N A LY S I S Engage with Rose Garden Retain Current Shuttle Experience Need for Public Space The project develops around the three key factors as observed at site analysis stage. The redundancy of the rose garden encourages one to design such that people actively engage with it and provide a public plaza that the site and its surroundings currently need. The rose garden has been designed as a module that first sprawls on the surface as landscape and the climbs onto the building as programmatic & aesthetic fenestrations. The rigid exterior is then juxtaposed with the fluidic interior of the shuttle exhibit. The exhibit spaces stop prior to the shuttle in order to retain the current experience that the science center provides.

C O N C E R N : Visual + Physical Impermeability

URBAN INTERFACE IDENTIFIED: The Interface, Zone C (central swatch) identified was an area between Zone A (RakabGanj) and Zone B (TajGanj), the two historic centers of the city.

The entire swatch is isolated from its context by a series of boundary walls (1.5m-2.5m) running throughout its perimeter. Zone C is central to the city and of prime location connecting the Airport/Railway station to the Hotels, and bounded by 2 major roads (Fort Road and Taj Road) leading to the monuments. This area should be of maximum activity due to its proximity from the river and monuments but instead is isolated and impermeable due to the building use inside.

Working in a team including two of the parters and myself, we developed the 11 tower group housing project with an area of 21 acres form scratch. It started with a massing study and concept design stage where the process included a series of 3D iterations, 2D concept sketches and excel charts comprising areas and unit configurations. After presenting a series of options to the clients and gaining approval for one, we went onto develop the basements, site plan, unit layouts, tower elevations and landscape design.

PaperCircus.in E-commerce Start-up Founder, September, 2015-2018

An online store offering Hand Crafted Colourful Eco-Friendly paper wallets, jewelery, pens, journals and scarves each personally shaped for every buyer. Worked on developing a website, designing the products, procuring raw materials, negotiating for prices, tying up with payment gateway portals, coordinating with artisans and logistic companies. During my third year, I solely developed my hobby based e-commerce platform, called ‘PaperCircus’. It is a store where I introduced the world to a range of hand crafted creative products personally shaped for every buyer. This platform and my solo journey gave me a taste of entrepreneurship. A successful launch in September 2015 and running till 2018, PaperCircus received a positive response to the products, quality and services; it enjoyed over 750 customers mostly across India with almost half a million INR in revenue, a part of which was donated to a foundation that provides food and healthcare services for the under privileged children of the country.
