National Honor Society: To create an organization that would recognize and encourage aca-

demic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in democracy. In order to be inducted into the National Honor Society, a student must meet the following

criteria:

10 High School Credits 3.8 Cumulative G.P.A (or above) Be a member of two clubs or one club and hold a leadership position High score on character evaluations rated by teachers (at least a 2.80 average rating National Honor Society meets twice a year; with the first meeting in September to elect officers and discuss responsibilities at graduation. The second meeting is in the spring that is for graduation preparedness. National Honor Society members are required to help with the eighth grade Open House table and the induction of Shreve’s new members in March. To remain a member you must keep your GPA at or above 3.8, along with maintaining leadership, service and character standards. “keeps the students engaged in their studies knowing it strengthens a college resume,� said Mrs. Langdon. Members are in charge of leading Shreve graduates into the Convention Center and help guide the graduates to and from the stage.
