Foot Prints

Prepare yourself for mock audit Between 11 and 15 November, two external surveyors, Terence Shea and Richard Wright from Joint Commission International Consulting will be visiting our polyclinics to assess the organisation’s commitment and processes to improve the safety and quality of patient care and to ensure a safe care environment for patients and staff.

Know the surveyors

Here are some tips when the surveyors visit your clinics:

Tips when responding to the surveyors Remain calm and confident. Clarify if you do not understand their question. Answer the surveyors clearly to your best knowledge. You are not expected to know everything.

Terence Shea

Do not use phrases that show uncertainty, such as “I think…”, “We usually or normally do this…” Say “It is a standard that we comply with….” Give and show them what is relevant and complete. Do not attempt to hide any information. Say “Let me show you….” Check and provide the appropriate answer if you do not know at the point of enquiry. Know where to find important information. Policies and procedures are available in SHP Intranet or shared network drive.

Richard Wright

Help your colleagues, especially to those who are new.

My mother was very pleased after seeing Dr Poon Zhimin. Dr Poon was caring and patient. She conversed to my mother in her dialect, breaking the cold barrier that we traditionally observed.

I would like to thank Dental Officer, Dr Hong Qi Xian, for his patience and service on my recent visit.

Excellent service!

I did not make an appointment but was in great pain. Dr Hong explained the procedure and tried his best to ease my pain. Thank you.

E d i t o r ’s N o t e We are entering the last few months for 2013 and it seems like the year had just went past like speed of light. The events in the past few months had kept SHP really busy - Dinner and Dance, President’s Challenge and opening of the redeveloped clinics. We are proud to achieve a new record raised for President’s Challenge 2013 this year. This annual charity event truly sees SHP coming together and supporting one another as one big family. We rock!
