Announcements week of June 3rd Volunteers: The Heart of Our Ministry “He grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God, and man.” – Luke 2:52 This is how the Bible describes Jesus as he grew up. Every week, a team of dedicated volunteers works to help the children in our Preschool, Elementary and Student ministries grow and learn in this same manner. Some of these folks have been working with the same group of children for several years. These individuals make up the heart of our programs, and we are so thankful for their commitment and the investments they are making in the lives of the children at SHPC.

Kayaking on Lady Bird Lake June 6th

Interested in becoming part of SHPC?

We did this last year and enjoyed it so much, we are doing it again. This is a trip especially for seniors — easy, gentle water. This year, we will paddle west to view the mansions above Lady Bird Lake. Meet at SHPC at 9:15 to carpool. Cost is $15 per person. After kayaking, we will eat lunch at Mangia's Pizza on Lake Austin Blvd. Reservations are not necessary. For information, contact Stefan Haag (512-288-3479 or shaag@austin.rr.com).

The next SHPC Inquirers' Classes will be held at church on June 10th & 24th, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Visitors wishing to join the congregation or considering membership should sign up now. The Session will receive class participants wishing to join into church membership later in the year. Childcare is available, but reservations must be made in advance. To learn more, please contact the church office at 892-3580.

Come finish out the Nooma series with FILO! We'll be viewing and discussing the final two sections in our study group on Sunday, June 10th at 5:30 p.m. This will be our final study group until the fall. Watch Facebook and your e-mail for any social or service events over the summer! Want more information or to be added to the mailing list? Contact us at youngadults@shpc.org 2

Help us transform!

Hear ye! Hear ye! Help for the hearing impaired Did you know that SHPC has hearing assist devices that will make the service sound crystal clear? Now you will be able to hear every word as if it was spoken directly to you. Please see our sound techs in the Sound Room.

You may have heard about our plans for refreshing our William Cannon campus over the summer… well, summer’s almost here, and Children’s Ministry needs some extra hands! Our summer project means our nursery and preschool programs will move to new summer rooms. See? Lots of transforming! If you’re available on the weekend of June 8th , contact Chris Gordon, Campus Director of Children’s Ministry, to sign up and get more details when we have them — chris@shpc.org

Cell phone etiquette Please remember to silence your cell phone during the worship service. And remember—unless you are texting God, those text messages can probably wait till the service is over. Please take a moment to fill a name tag out (or bring yours from home). This is a great way for you to meet someone new and make people feel welcome. 4
