Announcements week of July 8th Desserts! And more about SHPC’s Brodie Campus! This fall, Shepherd of the Hills is launching a new SHPC Brodie Campus near Manchaca. The SHPC Brodie Campus will offer an 11 a.m. contemporary Sunday worship experience and will have the same sermon as the SHPC William Cannon Campus. It will also have the same great children's ministry that marks our church. It is, in every way, Shepherd of the Hills, just in a new location. We're excited to have Ted Thulin on board, who will serve as our new campus pastor as we launch the Brodie location. We are seeking to build a core group of people who are excited about reaching the rapidly-growing south part of Austin for Christ. We would love for you to consider making an 18-month commitment to being a part of this new campus. That's a BIG commitment & we know you’ll have a lot of questions. So we have a series of desserts designed to answer all your questions and give you a chance to meet Ted. We’ve held two, but there are two more: at Wayne & Pam Gonzalez’s home on July 9th and Rich & Laura Morales’ home on July 11th. The gatherings begin at 7 p.m. & end at 8:30 p.m. Dessert (of course!) and drinks will be provided. office phone 892.3580 office email

Would you like to come to one of these desserts? Pick your date and then call Ted @ 512-8923580, on Ted's cell any time (606-312-1498), or email Ted at We would love to have you join us! 1

As we prepare for the fall startup of our Brodie campus, please join us in prayer: Sunday - July 8, 2012 Acts 9:31 (NIV)

that the community is well served by both churches.

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.

Prayer: This is the Great Commission given by Jesus to GO! Pray for the Pilgrims who are being called to the new campus. Ask the Holy Spirit to empower them. Thank the Lord for their commitment in establishing our new campus for service to the local community.

Friday - July 13, 2012 Ephesians 4:16 (NIV)

Prayer: Ask God for His vision, so that we may walk in the respect and reverential awe of the Lord like the early church. Ask the Holy Spirit who lives in us to help us be the light of Christ for both northern Hays County and South Austin.

Monday - July 9, 2012 2 Timothy 4:5 (NIV) But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

Wednesday - July 11, 2012 Acts 6:3 (NIV) Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them. Prayer: There will be need of many leaders and laborers at the new campus for all the various ministries of the church. Pray for God to raise up new lay leaders to help with the business of the church.

Prayer: As some leave for the Brodie campus, pray that the Lord will lead others to step into their shoes at the William Cannon campus so that all of our ongoing ministries can continue and expand. Pray also that we all continue to invite new people to SHPC so that our entire church can continue to grow and thrive.

Saturday - July 14, 2012 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV) Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Prayer: Many things will be happening besides the launching of the Brodie campus — remodeling at the William Cannon campus, site work at the 290 campus and our various missionary projects. Pray for all of this work, that the Lord may bless our efforts and help us to fulfill our part in His Great Commission!

Their Feet Are Made for Walking…

Hear ye! Hear ye! Help for the hearing impaired Did you know that SHPC has hearing assist devices that will make the service sound crystal clear? Now you will be able to hear every word as if it was spoken directly to you. Please see our sound techs in the Sound Room. Cell phone etiquette Please remember to silence your cell phone during the worship service. And remember—unless you are texting God, those text messages can probably wait till the service is over. Please take a moment to fill a name tag out (or bring yours from home). This is a great way for you to meet someone new and make people feel welcome.

Our friends in Guatemala have asked, on behalf of all the children in the orphanage and school, that the next SHPC team bring walking-appropriate shoes and gently-used clothing. These little people are just that – little! They need clothing sizes 3T to Youth Large (adult small shirts would be fine, too). Shoes should be no larger than a men’s 8, and women’s 6 – but again, think children! Please drop off your labeled donations in the SHPC office for collection. Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church Preschool is now enrolling in our pre-K classes. Students must be 4 by September 1st. Classes meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and optional Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. during the school year. For more information, please contact Pattie Lawrence at, or visit

The influence and impact of the church is felt most fully when Christ-centered leaders are at the forefront of establishing and growing well-led local churches and organizations… renew your vision and inspiration at this year’s Global Leadership Summit! Join us at Westlake Hills Presbyterian (#065) on August 9 & 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for two days of amazing speakers from a wide array of fields. There’s nothing like it! 4
