The hustle and bustle of the holidays is now in full swing, which is why we want to do our best this Advent season to slooooooooow down and remind ourselves and our kids about what we should really be wrapped up in this Christmas, which is… loving Jesus and loving others. We’ll be talking a lot about making someone’s day by giving something away, the definition we’re using for this month’s virtue of generosity. To complement the lessons we’re teaching on Sunday mornings in UpStreet, we offer a Wednesday night family experience for all elementary students and their parents (all kiddos must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend). How does it work? We meet in the Family Ministry Center for a 45-minute extravaganza of music and singing, skits, videos and interactive games that all focus on the virtue of the month. And what better virtue to hone in on during the Christmas season than generosity? It’s the perfect way to celebrate God’s amazing and generous gift of love—the Christ child!

Angels are disappearing! Hurry to get yours! There are over 150 angels left from last Sunday. More are being added. We expect to get more names of prisoners' children that aren't being served by other churches or agencies. Hurry to spread Christ's love all over the Austin area. Just choose an angel from the tree, fill out the colored card and leave it in the box, then shop, wrap the gift and attach the angel, and, finally, return the gift by Dec. 14. Just remember, we aren't finished until the gifts are delivered. Contact Gay Langston to help with the delivery.
Hear ye! Hear ye! Help for the hearing impaired Did you know that SHPC has hearing assist devices that will make the service sound crystal clear? Now you will be able to hear every word as if it was spoken directly to you. Please see our sound techs in the Sound Room. Cell phone etiquette Please remember to silence your cell phone during the worship service. And remember—unless you are texting God, those text messages can probably wait till the service is over.
