Conestoga Valley Christian Community Services will be holding a “Stuff The Truck” school supply drive on Saturday, July 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Worship Center, located at 2384 New Holland Pike, between the church and Lancaster County Christian School.
They are seeking the help of the community by requesting donations of a sturdy backpack filled with school supplies for children in need who attend Conestoga Valley School District. Items for elementary include: washable markers, pencils,
erasers, packs of loose leaf paper, safety scissors, spiral notebooks and ear buds. Middle and high school students need many of the same as above, but also need fivesubject spiral notebooks, ballpoint pens, and fine line markers. Cash donations are also greatly

“Pieces From The Past” - Featuring Berks History Center Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese “Pieces From The Past” continues this week, featuring the Berks History Center. In this weekly article, Shopping News readers will learn about local items housed in local museums and historical societies. Shown in the photo is Berks History Center Curator Amber Vroman displaying a jacquard coverlet. Named after the French inventor, Joseph Marie Jacquard, this particular type of coverlet (woven bedcover) became popular in the United States in the late 18th and early to late 19th centuries. A specific attachment for the loom would allow for a much more intricate woven design, such as this figured and fancy coverlet made by Henry Brehm of Womelsdorf, Berks County, in the year 1838. These coverlets can include floral, animal, architectural and other motifs and usually include an inscription of the name of the individual it for E. Foust.
