Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The heat of summer has been very persistent for the past few weeks, and it has kept many people from enjoying the outdoor activities they love. These local children, on the other hand, were having the time of their lives taking turns as the driver and the passenger in this snapshot of Lancaster County life. It’s amazing that three children fit in the small cart, but even more impressive is the pulling power and enthusiasm of the driver.

Lititz Library StoryWalk Combines Taking A Walk And Reading A Book

Free Concert To Be Held

Join the Lititz Historical Foundation for a free concert in their Mary Oehme Gardens Sunday, August 9 featuring Swing Street! Swing Street will bring fun renditions of mainstream jazz standards and jazz adaptations of popular tunes. Attendance will be reg ulated to allow enough safe room for everyone. First come, first served. There’s plenty of room to socially distance in their large gardens. They also ask that masks be worn by all attendees. The gardens are situated behind the Lititz Historical Foundation at 137145 East Main Street, Lititz. Plenty of free parking along Main Street is available. Bring your lawn chairs and blan kets and enjoy a relaxing, safe evening in the gardens. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. While the event is free, donations to further maintain the gardens are always welcomed and appreciated.

There’s a new way to reach your daily step goal at the library while adding another book to your “done pile!” Lititz Public Library introduces StoryWalk® this summer, combining two wonderfully healthy activi ties – taking a walk and reading a book. This self

directed activity for people of all ages encourages participants to read a children’s picture book while walking along a short path. Participants are en couraged to complete a simple activity at each stop. StoryWalk® promotes lit eracy, physical activity,

parental involvement and ties to the community. The Lititz Public Library’s first StoryWalk® title is “Ivan the Terrier” by Peter Catalanotto. The story follows Ivan, a lively terrier puppy, who enters and interrupts one classic fairy
