Stockport Homes Energy Stockport Homes Energy is an easy to use service that allows you to compare electricity and gas suppliers, and switch to a cheaper tariff. This service is not linked to an energy supplier and is therefore 100% impartial and backed by Consumer Focus Confidence Accreditation. All you need to compare energy suppliers is your: • • • •
address; current gas and / or electricity bills (ideally your last four bills); personal details (date of birth, contact phone number); and bank details (please note: you will be taken to a secure section of the website at this point). You can even compare and switch supplier yourself online. See page 3 for a step-by-step guide.
To compare suppliers: Visit www.stockporthomesenergy.org.uk or call 0800 410 1245 and see how much money you can save! You can also lower your energy usage and bills in the way you heat and light your home. For more information or to arrange a home visit, please contact the Environmental Officer on 0161 474 2401. • Enter your postcode • Choose if you want to compare prices for: • Domestic gas and electricity • Domestic electricity • Domestic gas • Domestic Renewable energy • Confirm if you currently have gas and electricity from the same supplier
3 Work out how much energy you currently use and what you pay for it
• Use your bills to work out your monthly, quarterly or annual spend or consumption rate • Your comparison results will be more accurate if you enter your energy consumption in kWh for the year. • Select your current and future payment Finally select the type of tariff you want to compare and then click ‘compare now’
4 Choose your supplier • The best price supplier is highlighted and there is a list of other suppliers that could save you money • Choose the supplier you are happy with and then click continue
5 Enter your personal details • Enter your personal details (please note: at this stage a ‘lock’ icon will be displayed at the bottom of the screen and the web address will change so it starts https – this shows you that the website is secure and you are safe to enter your personal details). • You can also view the terms and conditions, pricing and fuel mix details on the right hand side • Click on the ‘next step’ button
6 Review and confirm your transfer • Enter your bank details • Click on the ‘next step’ button • Check all the details on the form are correct • Click on the ‘next step’ button
Thank you, you have now arranged your energy transfer
What happens now? 1 Energylinx places your existing supplier on notice 2 You will receive an email containing information on: • full details of the supplier / tariff selected; • what to do with any existing direct debit arrangement; • new cost and savings made; • cancellation rights; and • timescales. The new supplier will start the transfer process and write to you with a welcome pack. Please note: this can take up to three weeks.
