Information on using decorating vouchers Stockport Homes would like its customers to enjoy the properties they live in and to maintain them cosmetically to a good standard. We want you to make your home your own. When decoration is needed, Stockport Homes may be able to provide decorating vouchers dependant upon the condition of the existing decoration and the size of the property. The vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and no cash change will be given when the full amount is not spent. If you need us to issue your vouchers in smaller amounts to make them easier for you to use, please let us know. Decorating vouchers can be used in various outlets throughout Stockport. The vouchers can be used to purchase many items including paint, wallpaper and various other decorating items. Stockport Homes are working in partnership with decorating suppliers, who will be able to advise on decorating issues and how to obtain supplies.
Decorating vouchers can be used in various outlets throughout Stockport.
Some of the decorating suppliers, such as Homebase and Johnstone’s Leyland Decorating Centres, have experienced staff within their stores who can advise you on how much paint would be needed in your property. They can also help you get value for money when using your decorating vouchers by pointing out special offers or a value range, therefore helping you to decorate as much of your home as possible using just the issued vouchers. Please speak to a member of staff within these stores if you need any assistance in spending your decorating vouchers. In some cases orders can be placed via the Area Housing Offices for decorating supplies and the items are delivered direct to your home. Further information regarding this scheme can be obtained by contacting your local Area Housing Office. For contact details, please see page 7. A list of participating outlets and further information regarding this scheme can be obtained from our website www.stockporthomes.org or by contacting your Local Area Housing Office.
Extensive property improvements Many properties will benefit from the installation of UPVC windows. In cases like this and when extensive repair works are needed to your property, if damage is done to existing good decoration, a voucher will be issued to allow you to repair the decoration. Other types of works which may qualify for a decorating voucher include extensive plastering, installation of gas central heating, installation of a new kitchen or bathroom (where decorating is not already included).
Do it yourself Stockport Homes realises that not all customers are experienced in decorating and painting. DIY skills can be improved and Stockport Homes can provide basic training. Further details regarding these schemes are available from the Customer Involvement Team. Contact details can be found on page 7.
