Zone-3 CONCLUSION

The developed proposal will naturalize the river corridor with a new river edge that would prevent the impact of flooding on the settlement. the river will flow high on its bank but still be accessible. residents will reunite with the water front and will be offered a respite from the commotion of the city. the design will lead to a significant increase in the quality of water and hence in the riverfront. the existing wildlife will be integrated into the urban setting. the proposed module can be used as a whole for various differnt rivers or can also be used in parts for various purposes.

EDGE CONDITIONS

NASA Annual Nasa Design Competition The hijras, they are facing exclusion since many years. They wish to be a part of a gender sensitive society. Unfortunately they are still struggling for their rights in India. They implore for a revolution..... a revolution in the stereotype thinking of the society.....a revolution in the stigma which has spread contagiously. The aim of this project is to use architecture as a catalyst to bridge the widening gap between the hijras and the 'normal' society.

WHAT IS

A SMART CITY? Smart city is a developed urban area that creates sustainable, economic development and high quality of life by excelling in economy, mobility, environment, people, living and government. It should consider the future needs and developments of the city and its citizens, focus on strengthening innovation and bringing in investments and effectively involve public in some decisions by various means like e-participation.

Government Smart City Competition The aim of competition is to redesign road by bringing in visual and utilitirian changes in exhisting road.

Road to be redesignedSINHAGAD ROAD,PUNE. Existing Situation Analysis

Design strategies For Roads a separate lane of PUBLIC BUSES AND AUTO-RICKSHAW is provided-Speedy and reliable public transport system. Out of the 3 lanes provided, 2 lanes are used for private vehicles. Hence only a TWO LANE road is provided. 3-5 M wide space is solely dedicated to footpaths. Providing a 2m wide CYCLE TRACK which continues through the intersections.

Adjacent to the carriage way a 3 meter wide BUFFER ZONE is provided. This area is the space for all the varying activities happening on the road side which include Parking Bus stops Covered pavilions vendors Green spaces

For Intersections

Th e INTERS ECTIO N S a re designed in such a ways that the vehicular, public transport, bicycle and pedestrian movement are better taken care of. Re l o ca t in g t h e SIGN AGE BOARDS IN THE BUFFER ZONE, so that they can be seen from both, the carriage way as well as public transport lane. JUCTION: A collection of design elements makes left turns simple and secure, right turns protected and fast and p rov id e s s t r a i g ht t h ro u g h movements that minimize or eliminate conflicts from turning cars. With this the riders will never feel stranded, exposed or unsure of where to go and how to get there. Protected bike lanes use curb planters or parking to buffer bicyclists from moving cars.
