02 / TOKYO ANTI-LIBRARY International competition , Archasm Group project Academic year - 2017-18 The aim of the competition was to create an iconic 21st century ‘public library’ in the city of Tokyo, Japan and debate its role in a ‘digital age. The proposal aims to become a solution to the frequently questioned vitality of a library by enhancing and transforming its capabilities as a ‘knowledge sharing and research prototype’ that will become a model for the future libraries of the world.

CONCEPT Japan as a country take pride in it’s sense of community. These values have helped them progress , but it has also led to the alienation of some individuals from society. Our design aims to provide spaces where individuals are free to ponder and rediscover themselves.

The structure is permeable which helps the person view the world from a certain distance. A realization of the importance of one self helps the individual understand their full potential without feeling the burden of being responsible towards society.

EVOLUTION

Central core for vertical circulation

Design and connecting of the spheres.

Worming up of these spheres around the central core through a passage

The vertical circulation is provided in the core of the building , in the form of ramp to make it accessible to everyone and elevators for quick access.

The restful and dynamic transition spaces are where the person comes in contact with the reality of being an individual with his/her own ideas as opposed to society's general pressure to work and live for the community.

The main activity areas are these spherical nodes .This is where ideas come to life , much like activity in a neuron. Nothing is speciďŹ ed in these nodes as one has to self discover him/her self.

The enclosed underground entrance to the library reflects the contrast of an individual's potential against what he/she is actually achieving.

03 / POLICE STATION(KOTWALI) Design Studio , Dual Project Academic year - 2017-18 ,SEM-V The program focuses on designing police stations for Punjab region. The main motive of this design problem was to create a new identity for the Punjab police and to promote healthy interaction between public and police. This design was to be replicated for 99 other police stations to be built in punjab region.

Punjab, India

LOCATION 16/17

DESIGN The main waiting area is strategically designed and placed at the entrance for proper surveillance from the Munshi’s( Officer In-charge) room on the activities going around in the police station. The design of the munshi room facilitates the interaction between the civilians and the officers sitting in the room, providing a comfortable environment. A canteen area is centrally located to be used by general public as well as police officers to relax themselves and eat peacefully.

KHUDDA LAHORA, located at the western periphery of Chandigarh city. Khuda Lahora, in an attempt to maintain its rural character while catering to the needs of urbanized population lost its character and culture, resulting in adverse living conditions for its people.

3

CONCEPT The character of a space is reflected by the relationship between nature and culture in depictions and interpretations of the ‘natural' environments. Public participation in restoration process makes them more aware of their responsibilities towards safeguarding their ecology.

In our design intervention, we attempt to reverse the destructive cycle of mindless development. To cater to the needs of the community, it is necessary to use the entire site as an opportunity to create interactive spaces to revive the lost rural culture .

PLAN

24/25

Along with the park, green open spaces are proposed which would connect the communities built along opposite edges of the choe. The root of diseases and garbage can be hence transformed into a spell-binding experience of the water stream and green earth.

Sludge treatment integrated with a ride Section of the water traetment plant

A community space is proposed in the form of stepped land form, creating gathering and interaction spaces for the community. The seating is designed to encourage the rural culture of togetherness. This hybrid space would also act as a diversion for the floods onto the steps by containing large volume of water, thus preventing overflow to protect flooding.
