’59: Dr. J. Phillip “Jack” London, will be posthumously honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by WashingtonExec during its Chief Officer Awards in celebration of his 49-year legacy in senior leadership with CACI and the mark his accomplishments left on the government contracting industry.
1970s
’73: CAPT Terry Tilton, USN (Ret.), has been awarded the Steamship Historical Society of America’s (SSHSA) Jay Allen Award for Distinguished Editorial Service in recognition of his invaluable contributions to SSHSA’s official magazine, PowerShips. COL Robert Adams Jr., MC, USA, was featured as the first guest host on the popular medical podcast, “PeerSpectrum,” in February.
’78: Dana Sales was recognized for 35 years as a local and county school board trustee and as the first person of Filipino ancestry elected to public office in the history of Santa Cruz County, CA, in March.
1980s
’87: Charles Kramer received the Navy Civilian Service Commendation Award in March. Jason Hardebeck has joined the administration of Baltimore, MD, Mayor Brandon Scott as the city’s first director of broadband and digital equity. Timothy Reimann was named president of Veit and Company of Rogers, MN.
CAPT Carl June ’75, MC, USN (Ret.), named a 2021 Dan David Prize Laureate
Captain Carl June ’75, MC, USN (Ret.), an international cancer cell therapy pioneer, the Richard W. Vague professor of immunotherapy in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and director of the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies at Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center, has been named a 2021 Dan David Prize Laureate. Headquartered at Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel, the Dan David Prize is endowed by the Dan David Foundation and annually awards three prizes of $1 million each to globally inspiring individuals and organizations, honoring outstanding contributions that expand knowledge of the past, enrich society in the present and promise to improve the future of the world.
June was recognized in the “future” category for his contributions to molecular medicine, including his groundbreaking work in developing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy, which in August 2017 became the first U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved cellular therapy for cancer.
“I am honored and humbled to receive the Dan David Prize,” said June. “I also want to thank my wife, Lisa, and our five children, who, along with my team at Penn, have been partners during this journey. Finally, I would like to thank the Dan David Foundation and Tel Aviv University for promoting science in the lay public during the global challenge facing all of us with the pandemic.” ®

USN (Ret.), was honored by his fellow Vermont principals as the Robert F. Pierce Principal of the Year.

’90: RADM Brendan McLane, USN, relieved RADM Charles Cooper II ’89, USN, to become the 60th Naval Surface Force Atlantic (SURFLANT) commander during a change of command ceremony aboard MESA VERDE in March.
’91: RADM Robert Chadwick II, USN, has been named Commander, Carrier Strike Group Nine in San Diego, CA.
’94: BGen Ahmed Williamson,
USMC, was promoted to brigadier general in March. ’97: CAPT Richard M. Gensley, USN, relieved CDR John Dougherty IV ’95, USN, during a virtual change of command ceremony for the Precision Strike Weapons program office.
2000s
’01: CDR Michael Paisant, USN, received a Black Engineer of the Year Award and was also recognized as a 2021 Modern-Day Technology Leader.
’02: CDR Victor Lange, USN, was formally welcomed as the U.S. Defense Attaché to the U.S. embassy in Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga and Tuvalu during a reception in March.
’05: Tara Houlden was promoted to principal information security risk analyst at Red Hat. ’09: LCDR Derik Rothchild, USN, received a Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) and was also awarded a BEYA for Career Achievement in Government.
2010s
’14: CAPT David Williams, USMC, was selected as the 2021 recipient of the Naval Academy Apgar Award for Excellence in Teaching in recognition of his contribution to the art of teaching and counseling students.
