As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the military jury is set to decide whether he should receive the death penalty on Monday. Hasan, who fired his legal team and began representing himself during his 14-day trial, reportedly acknowledged he was the gunman in the shooting to jurors and stated he had “switched sides” for the protection of Muslim

insurgents. In addition to the 13 people killed in the incident, 30 others were wounded. Hasan was shot by a responding police officer, which ended the massacre, and left paralyzed from the waist down.
