GUIDE • CONNECT • SERVE
You’ve heard the story before, right? The one about the brave climbers who take on the grueling challenges of the Himalayan Mountains - consisting of years of preparation, physical beating and mental exhaustion - all for the incredible honor of joining the very small group of humans who have ever touched the peak of Mount Everest.
Although there may only be time for just a moment of absolute elation atop Mount Everest to celebrate, the truly life-changing sense of accomplishment one gains by making this climb can change the course of one’s entire life and legacy. None of it could ever be accomplished without the experienced guidance of a Sherpa who knows the terrain, what pitfalls to watch out for, and which routes to take.
To those experiencing the life event of buying or selling a home, it might just feel like a climb up the Himalayas at times. While your body may not take the same physical beating, buying or selling a home is no small feat. Often, it takes months of preparation, and it absolutely changes the trajectory of your legacy.
This is where Alicia Holdaway, your very own “Sherpa Guide” comes in. Alicia is passionate about changing the real estate experience for her clients. Buying and selling your home is not merely a transaction of checklists to be completed, it is a life event and one that deserves to be handled with care. Just as you wouldn’t dream of climbing Mount Everest without a Sherpa helping you prepare for and guiding you through your journey, Alicia hopes you never take this real estate climb without her guidance and care.
salt lake
Salt Lake City is made up of many unique neighborhoods, each with its own charm and character. Downtown, the heart of the city, is always buzzing with excitement. Here is a mix of history, culture, bars, shops, restaurants, and beautiful parks. With streets laid out in an easy-to-navigate grid system, you can explore the city with ease. No matter what mood you're in, Salt Lake City has what you're looking for.
North of downtown is the Avenues and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, which are mostly residential with beautiful historic architecture. Enjoy local gems like Hatch Family Chocolates (a must visit for hot cocoa in the winter) and Publik, a fantastic local brew pub. Take a drive up the steep hills to the state capitol building and soak up views of the entire valley. Stunning year round, this area is especially nice to visit during the spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
Venture west of Capitol Hill where the neighborhood of Rose Park is decorated with quintessential red brick bungalow-style homes and beautiful tree-lined streets, great for an afternoon stroll. Rose Park is also known for it's famous Mexican restaurants, Red Iguana and Red Iguana 2 (the first one was so popular, they built a second location), which are both an absolute must-visit. Rose Park will always have a special place in my heart as this is where I grew up.
Just south of downtown is the quaint 9 th & 9 th area, packed with delicious upscale restaurants, one-of-a-kind shops, and multiple coffee houses all along the same road (900 South). Enjoy a boozy Sunday brunch, then walk to a local book store or rent a scooter and cruise around the city or Liberty Park, home to one of Salt Lake’s popular farmer's market, towering 100+ year old trees, groups of friends playing sports, hula hoop experts, slackliners, and of course tons of adorable dogs.
Head a little further south into Sugar House, best known for its massive park named after the city. Sugar House Park is great for flying kites in the summer and has the best sledding hills during the winter. Along 2100 South in Sugar House, there are a plethora of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, retail stores, and a movie theater.
A few minutes further south will take you to Holladay and Millcreek, which are nestled right up against the mountains between Millcreek Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon. Even though this area is only a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown, life seems to move at a slower pace, with people enjoying the scenery wherever they're driving to, especially if it's a trip up the canyon.

experiencepark city
Even if you have never visited Utah prior to moving here, chances are good that you’ve heard of Park City - home to multiple worldclass ski resorts, the annual celebrity-studded Sundance Film Festival, and the location of many sport venues from the 2001 Winter Olympics.
Park City also has a rich history in silvermining for silver that is. In the 1870s, Park City had the greatest silver mine in the world, known as the Ontario Mine. Many Utah natives have photographs of their great grandfathers standing outside this mine, captured in a timeless black and white image.
Most popular during the winter months for its incredible downhill and back-country skiing opportunities, Park City is a popular destination during the warmer months. Every Sunday during the summer, Main Street is closed to vehicular traffic and transforms into the pedestrian-friendly “Park Silly” street festival and farmer’s market.
A walk up and down Main Street will introduce you to the many high-end shops, art galleries, and excellent restaurants Park City has to offer. When you’re in this area, be sure to stop at one of the top restaurants, Yuki Yama for sushi, Fletcher’s for contemporary American food, or Courchevel Bistro for a taste of Europe. Afterwards, stop Java Cow or Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, both on Main Street, for some treats.
No matter the season, there’s always something fun to do: hiking, horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, and of course, celebrity spotting at the famous Sundance Film Festival.

silicon slopes
Move over, Silicon Valley - the Silicon Slopes is home to the next big tech boom. Many large companies like Adobe Systems, IM Flash Technologies, EA Sports, Ancestry.com, Podium, 1-800 Contacts, Domo, and countless others are building empires right here in Utah, which is home to over 6,500 startup and tech companies.
Big companies aren’t the only attraction, though. Multiple homes, restaurants, and stores are popping up all over the place. The Point, a brand new, once-in-a-generation development is in the works right at the edge of Traverse Mountain. It features over 600-acres of land that will soon be transformed into a mixed-use, forward-thinking community centered on innovation. This new development will feature commercial and residential buildings, connected trails, and spaces for the community to gather. To learn more about this unique development, visit www.thepointutah.org.
No matter the season, there’s something for all age groups. Thanksgiving Point features a gorgeous annual Tulip Festival in the spring and an incredible Dinosaur Museum. Take a quick drive up Provo Canyon to find multiple turn-offs for parks with picnic tables, open grassy areas for games, or peaceful knolls to relax on a blanket with your favorite book.
Though this canyon is incredibly scenic throughout the year, a must-visit time is in the fall. Stop at Sundance for a picnic lunch and enjoy the vibrant red, yellow, and orange leaves, then head along Alpine loop for a stunningly scenic drive and some of the best fall foliage in all of Utah.

TAKE A WEEKEND TRIP TO SOUTHERN UTAH
The red rock that covers the southern region of Utah is nothing short of magical. It’s no wonder that so much of the land has been protected and preserved for the enjoyment of future generations. Affectionately referred to as the “Big 5”, Southern Utah is home to Canyonlands, Arches, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks.
If you are looking for a more secluded desert adventure, check out the less-trafficked state parks such as Cedar Breaks, Sand Hollow, Quail Creek, Natural Bridges, Snow Canyon, and Escalante Petrified Forest.
There are three main cities in Southern Utah, each with their own charm and character. Cedar City is home to Southern Utah University and the wellknown Shakespeare Festival. Head to Cedar City if you want to explore more remote hiking, mountain biking, and climbing opvcportunities. If you’re looking for a lively and artistic town to come back to after a day of dirt-biking and ATV adventures, pay a visit to Moab, located in the south-eastern part of Utah. Or enjoy the beauty of the red rocks at a slower pace and vacation in St. George. The largest destination in Southern Utah, St. George and it’s surrounding suburbs feature multiple resorts, delicious restaurants, gateways to multiple outdoor adventures, and world class golf courses.
adventure is never far
the big five national parks
Gorgeous scenic drives and hikes await you at Canyonlands, carved out over time by the Colorado and Green rivers. Enjoy the Mesa Arch hike, which isn’t too physically demanding and offers incredible views. If you’re a seasoned hiker, take advantage of the Aztec Butte Trail - 2 miles, Gooseberry Canyon Trail - 5.4 miles, and Syncline Loop - 8.3 miles. These hikes lack shade to protect you from the strong rays of the sun, so please lather yourself in sunscreen, wear a hat and sunglasses, and bring along plenty of water to avoid sun exhaustion.
arches
A visit to Arches National Park near Moab in south-eastern Utah will make you feel as though you’ve stepped onto another planet. Take a scenic drive and revel in the stunning red rock arches from a distance, or take a hiking trail to get a close-up view. Delicate Arch, a Utah icon, is a short, relatively easy hike with prime photo opportunities. Other recommended hikes are Devils Garden, Landscape Arch, and Double Arch. If you’re feeling brave, apply for a permit to explore the Fiery Furnace!
capitol reef
A hidden gem, Capitol Reef is home to the historic ghost town of Fruita where you can visit the one-room school house and enjoy a freshly baked pie with fruit from the still-active orchard. We recommend the family-friendly Sunset Point Trail, a 0.3-mile hike with little elevation. Get up close to the red rock formations at the Hickman Bridge Trail and feel the smooth molded rock as you’re exploring. Prepare for lots of stunningly beautiful photo ops with the vibrant desert greenery, bright blue sky, and deep orange rock.
bryce canyon
BRYCE
Bryce Canyon, famous for its collection of giant natural amphitheaters, has endlessly mesmerizing views no matter how you explore it. Experience this national park while biking, riding an ATV, horseback riding, or lace up your hiking boots and trek along the Bryce Canyon Fairyland Loop - a beautiful day hike that takes approximately five hours to complete, rewarding hikers with stunning scenery along the way.
zion
SPRINGDALE
With too many hiking trails to list here, Zion National Park offers everything from easy kidfriendly adventures to thrilling climbs up steep cliff walls. Looking for a challenge? Apply for a permit to hike the famous Angel’s Landing Trail, perhaps the most famous in the park. Beware of this one if you have a fear of heights, as you’ll be hiking along a rim with steep drop-offs on both sides for a portion of the trail. Want something more relaxing? Try the Emerald Pools Trail, a short hike along a small stream with beautiful waterfalls and natural pools.
