Initial Questions on Media Studies 1. Why have you chosen media studies A level? I have chosen to study media studies, as an A level because it sounded like an interesting subject and as I studied performing arts in school and I liked it I thought media would be a little similar to it. I also knew media involved filming and photography and I find those two things interesting. 2. Is there a particular area/genre of the media that you are interested in? Yes there is a particular area in media I find interesting and that is photography and filming. 3. Why do you think media is important? I think media is important because it’s in our everyday lives and everywhere we go. Media keeps us occupied and up to date on things so if we didn’t have it we would probably be quite bored. 4. How much power do you think it has over our society? I personally think the media has a large amount of power over our society I say this because the media controls things like the news, televisions, computers and even mobile phones. 5. Choose 3 different groups of people and explain how you think they are represented in the media. I think teenagers are represented in the media. I think they are being stereotyped especially black boys for example; they see a black boy in a hoodie they automatically think he’s in a gang. Its not only the black youths its also white and mixed race youths. I also think women are stereotyped and I don’t think they are as equal as men. 6.
