LionsInternational Club Maple City

MISSION STATEMENT “To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.”

Happy Fall and Halloween!!!! We are going to Dansville on October 27 to welcome district Governor Keith Countermine. We will meet at the Dansville American Legion Represented by our host club Dansville Lions, Maple City Lions, Canaseraga, Wayland, and Cohocton. This will help Keith to greet all the clubs together for the first time before winter sets in. We are all looking forward to a great evening. Our eye screenings are in full swing. Lion Ann Peisher is moving this project along very nicely and very well organized. We did screening on October 4, at the Cohocton school for about 38 children. The pictures that we took were sent to the eye doctor for evaluation. The doctor can spot problems in the young children and many times can be corrected while the child is still young. We have had much success with this practice as have many of our fellow Lions Clubs doing the same type of screenings in their areas.

about a Lion Fundraiser. On September 10, 2011, I went on a Cruise on the “Canandaigua Lady”. It was a Wine & Micro Brewery Taster. She cruises the Canandaigua Lake, of course, and it was a beautiful day. I was among the Empire Lions, and some of the Rochester Clubs. The proceeds were for people with disabilities of any type. We did our Highway Cleanup October 8, 2011, Lion Joe is leading this parade as always. The Boy Scouts have partnered with us for this project and, as always, they do a fabulous job. And of course, a good time is had by all. We are getting our Christmas baskets ready at the Sunset as per usual. I can’t wait to tell you about it. Keep watch for the November Lion page for all the details. Meanwhile, ask any Lion member for a ticket on the $1,000 plus basket of goodies. Only $1.00 per ticket. We also have our gun raffle tickets at $5.00 per ticket. The shotgun can be seen at the Killbuck on Display. More on that next time.

The fall conference will be held on November 5, 2011 at the Holiday Inn, Batavia, NY. Registration starts at 8:00am. I wanted to share with you information

Well that’s all for now, So until next time ...

ANYONE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE LIONS is welcome to come to a meeting on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Meetings are held at the Sunset Restaurant at 6:30 pm, with dinner at 7 pm.
