Graphic design exudes artistic expression and style in its most simple form while subtracting the designer’s personal vision or agenda. The beauty lies in the relationship and communication of the client and the designer to develop visually appealing, legible, and purposeful design to reach desired target audiences.

/Process is entirely necessary and gratifying but done with time management as the primary focus. Research, careful attention to details, questions, sketching, software knowledge, and incorporation of skills and knowledge in fine art, and its history, enrich my creative process to yield the finest possible results./It is my purpose to gather all of the pieces and cut out the unnecessary to bring sense to a conglomeration of complicated thoughts and/or ideas to generate a result that brings great satisfaction for all parties. Paul Rand said it best when he stated, “Good design adds value of some kind, gives meaning, and, not incidentally,can be sheer pleasure to behold; it respects the viewer’s sensibilities and rewards the entrepreneur.”

I am often lost in thought or conversation with unintentional focus of words, lines, shapes, sentences, highlights, textures, colors, articles, shadows, forms, and phrases. I examine sections of things, persons, and places in great detail at times feeling as if my brain processes pixel-by-pixel, line-by-line, or word-by-word.

/My creative process is filled with beauty and ugly. I enjoy the creation and response of a comforting portrait and also that of ethically challenging conceptual works. I am most fascinated by animals, animal related issues, and the human response. The dichotomy of animal and human relationships is amazing, stifling, and disconcerting and therefore apprehends my attention. A painting of a horse is often seen as visually pleasing or a metaphor for freedom. My commitment is to show individuality with unique character, expression, personality, and ability to suffer. I wish for the viewer to engage and interact with the animal as a person rather than eye candy, a metaphor, or property. /Conceptual works involve a great deal of study of the contradictive and tenuous animal and human relationship. While the message remains similar, these works show as unpleasant and confrontational juxtaposing my other works. The works are meant to create discomfort forcing the viewer into a moral dilemma./Works will continue to study the animal and human relationship but also the human response. Upcoming works are inspired by humans who are oblivious to their environment and the breath of those microscopic, enormous, and in between.

The thoughtless pattern of daily life, choices, and tradition are both distressing, captivating, and in need of processing.

Thin, thick, long, short, and varying lines are my delight. My eyes constantly affix to various figures constantly breaking them down to their most simple forms. For this reason art and design have quenched my creative thirst. Of course, this has been my outlet and device since I was a young girl. Though at some point I wished to find a more financially tangible route, all lines find a way of putting me in front of my original mark./ I spent four years working full time as a graphic designer and suddenly felt the urge to pass my joy to others and taught junior high and high school the past four years. I found myself once again at my original mark begging for me to pursue what I seem to have drifted from once again. I am fully engaged and am diving in head first./ Family, animals, art, and music are most important and fulfill me with boundless inspiration. I enjoy the quiet just as much as I enjoy a noisy concert. My life is entirely enjoyable with occasional hiccups to remind me of what is most important.
