Three Easy Ways to Register

Registrations for recreation, athletics and special events may be made in the Parks office, by phone with credit card payment or by mailing in a registration form with payment. Registrations will be processed as they arrive and will be handled on a first come/first serve basis unless otherwise noted. Signing up for one class does not guarantee a space in the next class session if the class is ongoing. You must pre-register for each individual class session. Registration forms may be found in the Parks office All fees must be paid before services can be given!

Refund Information

Once a program begins it is not policy to refund enrollment fees. If an instructor becomes ill and the class must be canceled and not rescheduled, refunds will be made.

Do you know where we are located?

We are located in the Carl McNeely Civic Center building (the old Junior-Senior High). If you are coming from Colescott Street turn left on Meridian Street, then straight to Second Street. Tun left on Second Street - go one block up to South Tompkins Street turn right, our entrance will be on the right hand side of the road.

Cancellation of Programs

Programs listed will be offered unless the number enrolled fall under the minimum that is listed. After programs are underway, cancellations will occur only if the instructor is sick and unable to attend or the weather causes us to cancel. To check on cancellation of classes, please call 392-5128. To check evening activities to see if a cancellation has occurred call the Parks office after 4:00pm on the day of the program. Please enter extension 18 if it is after 5:00pm.

Photo Policy

If photos are taken of participants in a class, during a special event or at our park facilities, they are for parks and recreation usage only and may be used in the park brochures, flyers or on the parks & recreation website.

Park Board Meetings

Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at the Carl McNeely Civic Center at 4:15pm. The meetings are open to the public. Office will close!

We have members of all ages from middle and high schoolers up through 80+ years young seasoned musical veterans. The joy of playing music for our community is what we love to do. May 16 • boys and girls ages 10-17 June 20 • women age 18 and up July 18 • boys and girls ages ages 10-17 Participants will be instructed on how to watch their surroundings for signs of trouble. They will also learn different techniques both physical and verbal to help get them out of a potential harmful situation. In addition, they will learn some strikes and release moves. The class will be instructed by Lt. Mike Turner. Lt. Turner has been with the Shelbyville Police Dept. for 18yrs. He is currently over training and public relations for the department. Growing up his parents owned a Karate school where he obtained a third degree black belt. Lt. Turner has approximately 15 years experience in Karate including competitive fighting and has taught self-defense classes in the past.

HOOK A KID ON GOLF

This week long clinic held at Bear Chase Golf Club and instructed by Mark Kaiser, Shelbyville High School Girls & Boys Varsity Golf Coach offers children ages 8 to 15 an introduction to the skills and techniques of golf.

Bear Chase Golf Club • 2660 N. Riley Hwy., Shelbyville Participants will receive a starter set of golf clubs, golf bag, a “Hook a Kid on Golf” shirt and a hat along with instructions.

Shelbyville Parks Youth Volleyball Clinic A fun and instructional clinic, where all fundamentals will be taught, including serves, sets, spikes,blocks, returns, positioning and team strategy. Whether your child is an experienced player or a complete novice, they will have fun learning about the sport. Fee includes Jump Start Sports shirt. Knee Pads optional.

Basketball shorts or cutoffs, are NOT allowed in the water. • NO FOOD, drinks or chewing gum will be allowed in the pool gates • NO SMOKING on the pool grounds. WE ARE A SMOKE-FREE FACILITY • You must be 48” to go down the Corkscrew Slide (due to the current) • Admission receipt needs to be kept - NO money will be refunded for closing early • No flotation devices allowed (water wings, rafts, etc.) • No profanity, vulgarity, necking is allowed.
