Three Easy Ways to Register

Registrations for recreation, athletics and special events may be made in the Parks office, by phone with credit card payment or by mailing in a registration form with payment. Registrations will be processed as they arrive and will be handled on a first come/first serve basis unless otherwise noted. Signing up for one class does not guarantee a space in the next class session if the class is ongoing. You must pre-register for each individual class session. Registration forms may be found in the Parks office All fees must be paid before services can be given!

Refund Information

Once a program begins it is not policy to refund enrollment fees. If an instructor becomes ill and the class must be canceled and not rescheduled, refunds will be made.

Do you know where we are located?

We are located in the Carl McNeely Civic Center building (the old Junior-Senior High). If you are coming from Colescott Street turn left on Meridian Street, then straight to Second Street. Turn left on Second Street - go one block up to South Tompkins Street turn right, our entrance will be on the right hand side of the road.

Cancellation of Programs

Programs listed will be offered unless the number enrolled fall under the minimum that is listed. After programs are underway, cancellations will occur only if the instructor is sick and unable to attend or the weather causes us to cancel. To check on cancellation of classes, please call 392-5128. To check evening activities to see if a cancellation has occurred call the Parks office before 4:00pm on the day of the program. Please enter extension 18 if it is after 4:00pm.

Photo Policy

If photos are taken of participants in a class, during a special event or at our park facilities, they are for parks and recreation usage only and may be used in the park brochures, flyers or on the parks & recreation website.

Park Board Meetings

Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at the Carl McNeely Civic Center at 4:15pm. The meetings are open to the public. Office will close!

Join your friends at the Shelbyville Parks Department for a Spooktacular good time! We will have games, crafts, pumpkin carving, pony rides, bonfire, music by GIANT96 Real Radio, hayrides to our pumpkin patch with some great thrills along the way and much more! Ages 12 and under. Combining Latin and international music with dance movements to create a party atmosphere! Classes are held at the Parks Dept. 945 Tompkins St.

Parent-Child Interaction Class You and your child will have the opportunity to exercise and socialize in this class. Coordination, large motor skills, and movement skills will be developed through climbing, running, jumping, and rolling on our indoor equipment. Creativity will be enhanced using the parachute, hula-hoops, balls, and other play toys. We will have craft time which helps the child use their imagination and there will also be story and snack time too!

Rookie Baseball Children Grades 1-2 Wednesday Evenings Sept. 7th - Oct. 5th Sunrise Park 5:30-6:45pm

Children ages 3-6 have fun and learn the basics of soccer: dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting, defense, and positioning. Each session consists of instruction in each aspect of the game, participation in fun drills that are designed to teach fundamental skills to such young children, and low-key, non-competitive games. All coaching will be conducted by Jump Start Sports staff, but parents may assist. The Shelbyville Fall Break Camp is a place where kids in grades 1-3 will have a blast playing various sports such as basketball, cheerleading, lacrosse, flag football, soccer, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and “traditional” camp games such as capture the flag, dodgeball and kickball. A fun and instructional clinic, where all fundamentals will be taught, including serves, sets, spikes,blocks, returns, positioning and team strategy. Blue River Cross Country Course This venue is a national level championship running facility nestled within Blue River Memorial Park in Shelbyville, Indiana. It is designed to host competitive running events from small to large as well as community-oriented recreational activities!

This Sunday afternoon league lets the guys in on the fun!! But we don’t let them dominate it! If more than one hit is made – a girl has to make at least one of them!

C League: Tuesday Nights Teams just starting out or looking for recreation

Each session consists of 10 games plus single elimination tourney!

Fee: $175/team 6 per team –10 max. per roster Awards given to league and tourney winners!

8th Annual Shelby County Girls Basketball League The Shelbyville Parks Department is again hosting the Shelby County Girls Basketball League. This is our 8th year and the league is designed to provide teams with a local opportunity to learn and strengthen their fundamental basketball skills needed to improve their game. Teams play 2 games each Saturday for 6 weeks starting March 3rd. Teams from outside Shelby County are also welcome!


Coaches register team by paying fee

Team Roster needs to be submitted prior to first game. Registration is at Parks Dept. Teams must have shirts with numbers.

Girl’s Softball Camp The Shelby County Girls Softball League is partnering with the Shelbyville High School softball team and coaches to bring you this day long camp. SHS coaches and players will work with all campers on the fundamentals of throwing, fielding, batting, running and sliding.
