Greetings From the Regent! 2014 started off just as well as 2013 ended and despite the election of new officers no momentum was lost in moving the fraternity forward. We welcomed our largest spring pledge class ever with 10 new fantastic brothers. Our 2nd annual Disc Golf tournament was a success as well as our contribution to the CUCPHS Relay for Life team that raised roughly $3000 for cancer research. Even with all of the community service and charitable donations, we had our most successful fundraising semester in recent history. We had the largest turnout at a province meeting ever with 20 brothers at the Atlantic Province Winter Conclave at Beta Xi in Chapel Hill, NC. The fire in our bellies from not quite making it as a top 10 chapter has inspired us greatly which has pushed us to work harder for what we want and to represent Kappa Psi proudly.

Tyler Cahoon

Our Brothers continue to reach higher into leadership roles as our immediate past regent, Jordan Ballou and Brother Alexandria Anderson were elected as Secretary and Webmaster of the Atlantic Province, respectively. On an even larger note our GCD Dr. Adams was named to become the second ever Dean for the Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences starting in 2015. Dr. Adams succeeds Dr. Maddox, who founded the pharmacy school in 1986. In Brotherly Love, Tyler A. Cahoon, 2014 Regent of ΔΛ

Fundraising Events

Kappa Psi has been involved in numerous fundraising activities this year and continues to work to provide for charities and foundations of particular importance to the brothers. We have hosted bake sales to raise money for the American Red Cross, Campus Grill night, MiCasita night, and Polar Plunge (frozen yogurt) night to raise money both for charities and the chapter. We have also been selling Kappa Psi keychains and t-shirts to fundraise for the chapter. For more information please contact Sarah Eggers at sleggers0415@email.campbell.edu.

Service The service committee and fellow brothers have been busy carrying out new and annual service events. Brothers have been involved in cleaning up the streets of Buies Creek with numerous roadside events. We have been keeping up with our monthly “Birthday Party” visits to the Emerald Health and Rehab Center in Lillington, NC. In February, brother Kaitlyn Eldridge organized a group of brothers to make Get Well Soon cards for children receiving surgeries aboard the Africa Mercy Ship that her father volunteered on.

The spring 2014 pledge class designed a poster with information about the American Red Cross that was displayed at this year’s CUCPHS health fair on campus. Delta Lambda also participated in this year’s Relay for Life as a part of the CUCPHS team which raised over $3,000 to donate to cancer research! Kappa Psi also donated $100 to sponsor our very own Carly Cawrse who participated in the Tour de Cure that raised money for the American Diabetes Association. We have had a semester full of rewarding experiences and are very so glad to reach out to our community in this way!

Spring Rush With the help of our Brothers, the rush events were a HUGE success. Kappa Psi recruited 10 amazing pledges, who became Brothers of Kappa Psi. The first event kicked off with a Greek Potluck, where our IFC committee organized a tri-fraternal event. Brothers from all fraternities joined together to get to know the rushees and share a meal. We then hosted a winterythemed meet and greet at the Kappa Psi house for rushees to get to know the brothers. Rushees played a bingo-style get-to-know the brothers game and everyone enjoyed desserts, and hot-cocoa around the fire.

The Pledging Process This spring we had a record high of 10 awesome pledges. We were all pleasantly surprised to have so many for a spring rush. Throughout the pledge process, they worked diligently to complete all assigned tasks, and did so with a smile on their faces. They cooked for our barbeque dinner and put together a super fun nerdthemed pledge party for the brothers, and participated in many of our service opportunities and Kappa Psi events. We were more than pleased with their dedication and hard work. On March 29th we initiated all ten pledges into the Kappa Psi Brotherhood .

We had a wonderful turnout this year. This year we held a barbeque dinner to lower the costs of formal tickets. We ended up raising a whopping $899.19 that lowered the prices of tickets to just $15. Several superlatives were announced among the chapter with Eliana Kurzum getting the most unforgettable Brother. Also, Jordan Ballou gave out Regent awards to her officers and all those who helped her out during her regency. After dinner, a wonderful slideshow presentation was given by our historian, Shelby Reich and then everyone danced the night away. It was a beautiful weekend in the mountains, and memories Page 3

Social Events Our social chair Heavan Helms went above and beyond this semester making sure all social events that were held exceeded expectations. She organized a tailgate-themed welcome party for our incoming pledges in early February where everyone sported their favorite sports team jerseys. She also did a wonderful job of putting together a surprise baby shower on February 20 for brother Shasta Grotewiel who welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Ryker Mikala Grotewiel, on April 12, 2014. Regent Tyler Cahoon organized a luncheon for our P4 brothers prior to graduation on May 8th that was a big success. P4 brothers were each given a gift of a glass mug inscribed with “Kappa Psi Class of 2014” and the crest on them.

GCD and soon to be dean Dr. Michael L. Adams Page 4

On May 1st our very own GCD Dr. Michael L. Adams was named as next dean for Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, effective Jan. 1, 2015. Dr. Adams will succeed our current dean Dr. Ronald W. Maddox who will be retiring Dec. 31, 2015. CUCPHS has been under the leadership of Dr. Maddox since its inception in 1986. Dr. Adams is a 1996 Doctor of Pharmacy summa cum laude graduate of Campbell, who returned to the pharmacy school as an assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences in 2005. He then became the school’s director of Science Education Outreach in 2009 and served in that position through 2012, when he was named assistant dean for graduate and interprofessional education. Dr. Adams has also been named Professor of the Year by second year pharmacy students every year since he joined the faculty. We are very excited to see Dr. Adams transition and to see him continue his success as he takes this next step in his career. CLIPS

Alumni Relations This spring our Alumni Relations Committee was hard at work to put together events to reach out to our alumni brothers in order to keep in touch and to strengthen our relationships with our fellow brothers. In February we hosted a meet and greet at our Kappa Psi house prior to the Campbell men’s basketball game against Coastal Carolina where our alumni brothers helped us cheer on the camels. In April we hosted our annual Founder’s Day cookout at the Kappa Psi house following the annual Disc Golf Tournament. We love staying in touch with our Brothers and informing you all about our activities and festivities. IF you are interested in joining us in future events, you can visit our website:
