Friends, We created Shelby Farms Park Conservancy with a goal to develop a shared community vision for Shelby Farms Park’s future and deep, collective commitment to seeing it through. Great cities have great parks, and we saw an opportunity to raise the expectations of what’s possible in our public realm by building on the belief that Memphis deserves a world-class public space. At every step of the way, collaboration has been the key to unlocking Shelby Farms Park’s potential for our community. The vibrant, beloved park we have today is only possible through our partnership with donors, volunteers, supporters and visitors like you. When we were casting these dreams, we didn’t know what the future would hold. We could hardly have imagined that we’d have five times the number of visits today than we had in 2007. And while we couldn’t have known we would face a global pandemic, we were certain that Shelby Farms Park would serve as critical community infrastructure for our community—a place where millions of people could gather safely to seek refuge, solace and connection. Together, we maintain dozens of miles of trails, plant and care for thousands of trees, protect and transform habitats, and provide room to roam for our community—an invaluable asset in a time when access to the outdoors is more precious and needed than ever before. Today, we’re reflecting on a successful year of operations with respect for our visitors, gratitude for your support and pride in our mission. We’re also turning our eyes to the future and looking ahead once again, with hope and optimism. Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (SFPC or the Conservancy) is the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that manages and operates Shelby Farms Park and Shelby Farms Greenline through a private-public partnership with Shelby County Government. That means the land that comprises Shelby Farms Park and Greenline is publicly owned, and SFPC is responsible for daily management, fundraising to meet our operational budget needs, setting the vision for the Park’s future and stewarding its natural resources. Shelby Farms Park Conservancy is committed to providing inclusive and equitable spaces for each and every visitor.
