May 2 Discoveries in the Making

Known primarily as the guitarist for the seminal New York no wave band Swans, Norman Westberg also crafts vast sonic soundscapes under his own name. Westberg’s dark, ambient instrumental music stands in stark contrast to the walls of noise constructed by Swans, but is no less intense. He is touring in support of his recently released album 13. Westberg will be at the library May 13 at 8 p.m. Attendees must be at least 18 years old to attend. Tickets are $12.50 and are available by calling 4447888.

Coffee-ol-ogy Cafe presents free programs on food and coffee from around the world. Attendees will explore Mexican cuisine in May. Complimentary samples will be provided. The event will be held May 1 at 2:30 p.m. at the library.

Grammy award winner Larry Gatlin will perform at the library on May 7 at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. With more than a dozen Top 40 hits to his credit, Gatlin is an icon in country music. His career, spanning four decades, has taken him from dusty Texas stages to the White House and from Broadway to the Grammy awards. Gatlin

also starred as the lead in the Tony award winning musical “The Will Rogers Follies” on Broadway.
