Vizcaino says all of the recipes are straight from the minds of his parents. Tortugas strives to offer a relaxed, casual atmosphere where customers can sit, enjoy their meals and spend time with their families, he says. “We love all of our customers and have so many that feel like part of the family,” he says. “We’ve had several say they feel like they’re in ‘Cheers,’ where everybody knows your name. During baseball season, expect the TVs to have Cubs games on.” Vizcaino says the restaurant’s success and his time there has inspired him to
dream big. “I have grown to love my job here and the people who have been a part of this restaurant. Hopefully, I can follow my parents’ footsteps and open my own restaurant in the not-too-distant future,” he says. Tortugas is located at 2801 John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover.
