Hello Doctor Why aren’t photos allowed at some monuments, by AIR Port Blair questions PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday pitched for people’s participation in preserving India’s archaeological legacy and questioned the rules which prohibit them from clicking photographs at certain monuments. He said training young people as tourist guides will help generate employment and

also enhance the interest of people in archaeological sites, thereby boosting tourism. Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of a new building at the Archaeological Survey of India’s headquarters in New Delhi, Modi said people’s participation is a must to preserve and protect the archaeological legacy of the country. “The legacy can’t be protected if people are not proud of it... The corporate sector can also be

roped in where people can contribute some hours as volunteers,” he said. Modi suggested that in 100 cities which have historical sites, school syllabus can include information on local archaeological places so that students grow up learning about them. He also wondered why the ASI was prohibiting people from clicking photographs at certain monuments. He said when technology allows satellites to take pictures from far away, restricting people from clicking photographs is not correct.

Mid-air collision between two IndiGo aircraft averted over Bengaluru Two IndiGo aircraft with nearly 330 passengers on board avoided a collision over Bengaluru on Tuesday after an automatically generated warning alerted the pilots of the planes, prompting authorities to launch a probe into the incident. “The TCAS-Resolution Advisory system was triggered on two of our aircraft operating CoimbatoreHyderabad and BangaloreCochin routes respectively on July 10. Following normal procedure this has been reported to the regulator,” the airlines said in a statement. It was referring to the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA). The traffic collision avoidance system monitors the airspace around a plane for other aircraft equipped with corresponding active transponders and gives pilots warning of possible collision risks. It also instr ucts them about the avoidance action (resolution advisory) to maintain the desir ed separation between two aircraft. T he Hyder abadbound plane had 162 pas-

sengers and the other aircraft was carrying 166 passengers. News agency PTI quoted unnamed sources as saying that the vertical separation between the two air cr aft was only about 200 feet and a midair collision was averted after the TCAS alarms went off. They also told the agency that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB) has started an investigation into the incident. Another IndiGo plane was involved in a similar situation when its Vi s a k ha p a t na mBengaluru flight 6E- 647 was on a collision course with an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircr aft over Chennai air space but steered to safety following the auto-generated warning on May 21. And on May 2, IndiGo’s Agartala-bound flight 6E892 from Kolkata and Air Deccan’s flight DN 602, which was on its way to Kolkata fr om Agartala, avoided a near miss in the Dhaka airspace.

Still no Trace... then they can easily reach upto Rutland Island of South Andaman within five hours. Although some PRI members of Little Andaman are now making an issue out of this situation and had organized Dharna last night to gain political mileage, fact remains that Police Department had already arrested 8 poachers from the region braving adverse weather and combing hostile forest area for several weeks. The Police Department of Little Andaman had already alerted all Panchayats and Fishermen units of Little Andaman about possibilities of presence of Poachers in the area, who can even attack them. Despite of these warnings, why there 13 fishermen went for fishing deep inside the forest, that too, inside reserve forest illegally, is still not known.Police is not ruling out the possibilities that these people had actually gone for illegal timber extraction and even interacted with the poachers inside forest. But when the

(From page 1)

poachers demanded the engine dinghy there was a fight and finally Indian Fishermen were overpowered. This angle is still to be cross verified by police although the initial investigating team which inspected the spot got some hints already. Meanwhile, some groups also suspect that there are many people in Andaman Island who might have links with these poachers and supply them fuel and food, because of which these poachers are able to survive easily in deep jungle. Of course this is again another theory of investigation agencies. Meanwhile, the Coast Guard, which has become target of serious criticism in social media, is still searching for these poachers along with police department and public hope that Coast Guard will atleast detect and apprehend them, this time, when these poachers make the final attempt to escape to Myanmar.
