Tiled surfaces were replaced and vinyl flooring and ceramic tiles in main thoroughfares were fitted throughout.

The bar itself was re-varnished and a feature vinyl finish was added to the front of the bar.

A feature timber wall was installed to enhance the interior of the bar which surrounds the dance floor area.

91.5% Customer Satisfaction Score.

University of Wales, New Entrance to Heritage Building, Gregynog Hall, Wales Client: University of Wales, Powys Value: £61,213 Duration: 9 weeks Creation of a new entrance to a heritage building from the Victorian period and a retail shop. The frontage of the shop was recreated with timber beams whilst the interior was re-configured with plaster bulk heads. Render was carefully replaced between existing elaborate, Victorian beams. New mechanical and electrical installations were carried out. A small industrial kitchen was created for the adjacent café. In a separate building adjacent to the main building, render repairs were made to the main house porch; sections of render were re-applied and decorated.

Achievements •

As this was a listed heritage building, much of the work carried out was of a conservation nature.

The main house at Gregynog Hall houses students and provides corporate facilities including bedrooms and function rooms. These were kept open during the refurbishment and disruption was kept to a minimum.

The reception desk itself was changed to a bespoke, modern, user friendly, oak finished desk. New digital imagery was mounted on all walls within the reception area. In the adjacent toilet accommodation new sanitary ware was installed.

Achievements •

The graphics for the wall finishes were mounted behind the reception desk and adjacent walls. This had to be done out of hours during the evening due to the scale of the montage.

24 hour access through reception was needed so Shaylor coordinated the cordoning off of areas for works to be carried out safely.
