30 Odd 6 » POP/ROCK, ADULTS (19+) PRESENTED BY: TREASURE COVE CASINO AND HOTEL Friday, February 22, 2008 - 7:00pm Saturday, February 23, 2008 - 7:00pm EVENT DETAILS: Evening includes buffet at 7:30 pm, show at 8:30 pm. About 30 Odd 6: In 1995 Jeff Osborne and Peter Gorman clicked as musicians and came tigether as a unit. Unbeknownst to them to form an unstoppable force which has carried 30 Odd 6 to it’s present day. The journey has been endless, exciting, and is still unknown. With influences of The Clash, Neil Diamond, Sloan, Bowie, Voivod, Soundgarden, Zepplin and many others… the writing possibilities were endless. From 1997 until 2002, 30 Odd 6 (as it was) released two full length albums independently, garnering them cross Canada recognition, as well as a video for their single Numb In 2003, while watching other local indie bands flourish and take jumps to mail stream radio, Jeff and Pete stood back in contemplation, taking time to reform and regenerate the energy of what was meant to be. The road has been and in this year of 2007, the experiences are evident as the raw talent of 30 Odd 6 now emerges as a finely tuned machine. With the driving forces of Jeff Saulnier on drums and Paul Osborne on Bass, 30 Odd 6 is back with explosive new material and ready to take on the world. http://www.myspace.com/30odd6 VENUE: Treasure Cove Hotel Show Lounge | ADMISSION: $15.00 | TICKETS AVAILABLE AT: Treasure Cove Hotel and Casino • 2003 Highway 97 South • (250) 561-2421

Ballet Kelowna - The Red Nocturnal and Other Works » BALLET PRESENTED BY: BALLET KELOWNA Thursday, February 28, 2008 - 7:30pm EVENT DETAILS: The highlight of the program will be two works by Vancouver choreographers. Our fourth commission to a Canadian choreographer is Josh Beamish, former Kelowna resident. He has choreographed the very dynamic “The Red Nocturnal”, his first work for a ballet company. Josh is Artistic Director of Vancouver’s Move! the company and his work is known for its intense musicality and vitality. It is also a great honour for Ballet Kelowna to present “Etude” by another Vancouver resident, Kay Armstrong. Choreographed in 1949, “Etude” was the critical hit of the 1950 Ballet Festival in Montreal and garnered much praise. The Montreal Herald proclaimed “This was real choreography in which every movement had a purpose, the pattern flowed evenly and the balance always seemed perfect.” Dance Magazine described “Etude” as “…a small masterpiece.” “Etude” was the only Canadian choreography presented in The National Ballet of Canada’s 1951 debut season where The Globe and Mail called it “…the most encouraging, refreshing item of the evening…” Celia Franca, then Artistic Director of The National Ballet, had seen “Etude” at the Montreal Ballet Festival and praised it in the Royal Academy of Dancing Gazette as “…purely classical and delightful to watch…” Ballet Kelowna is immensely proud to be able to present this Canadian ballet masterpiece. The program will include the delightful and fiendishly difficult “Flower Festival at Genzano Pas de Deux.” Choreographed in 1858 by August Bournonville, this charming pas de deux displays the epitome of the Danish style. Also on the program will be two new works by Artistic Director David LaHay. The Spring 2008 season marks the end of Ballet Kelowna’s Fifth Anniversary Season celebrations. Tickets at Studio 2880 Adults: $30.00; Students/Seniors: $20.00; Youths: $15.00 VENUE: Prince George Playhouse • At the corner of Highways 16 and 97 on Recreation Place | ADMISSION: $30.00 • $20.00 • $15.00 | TICKETS AVAILABLE AT: Studio 2880 • 2820 15th Avenue • 563-2880

February 14 - March 2 • 2008

Friday, February 29, 2008 - 7:00pm EVENT DETAILS: Killer of Sheep examines the black Los Angeles ghetto of Watts in the mid-1970s through the eyes of Stan, a sensitive dreamer who is growing detached and numb from the psychic toll of working at a slaughterhouse. Frustrated by money problems, he finds respite in moments of simple beauty: the warmth of a coffee cup against his cheek, slow dancing with his wife in the living room, holding his daughter. The film offers no solutions; it merely presents life — sometimes hauntingly bleak, sometimes filled with transcendent joy and gentle humor. Admission is free. http://www.killerofsheep.com/
