LINKING TOGETHER GREAT GOLF, CONVERSATION AND FOOD HAD AT THE 25TH ANNUAL MAP GOLF OUTING By Chris Walker

S

ilence may be golden on the golf course when a fellow player is addressing the ball and hitting it, but the majority of the time it’s a great time to socialize. The golf course provides a wonderful opportunity for players to enjoy time away from work and family in the scenic outdoors while getting to know their playing partners as well as other foursomes.

There was plenty of conversation, laughs and connections made at the 25th annual Metropolitan Alliance of Police (MAP) golf outing and there likely would have been additional attendees, but the event quickly filled its 150-golfer capacity. “We had to turn away foursomes because there was such a great interest because we

hadn’t had one last year,” said John Holiday, board of directors for MAP. “They were eager to get out and get together with other union members.” Held at the Links at Carillon Golf Course in Plainfield on Sept. 13, MAP members and affiliated attorneys enjoyed 18 holes of golf, including lunch, dinner and raffle prizes, but perhaps most beneficial were the hours spent networking with other members from a wide range of departments. While usually held the day after Father’s Day, this year’s outing was pushed back to fall due to the ongoing pandemic. “We were hoping it would work out so we pushed it back to September to try to get enough time for the pandemic to settle down,” Holiday said. “By all accounts it worked out well.”
