MAGIC CLASS Abracadabra! Get out your magic wands and deck of cards because you’re about to learn how to pull a rabbit out of a hat. WHITE SOX HITTING NIGHT Help your kids prepare for the spring baseball season at the White Sox Academy’s father-and-son hitting night. The one-day family event will focus on fundamentals involved in hitting. Sox Academy instructors also will give advice on what drills would benefit players in competition. What started as a group of college friends gathering to eat good food and enjoy each other’s company has turned into a fun local way to raise money for Chicago area food banks. FitzGerald’s will host Soup & Bread as a monthly fundraiser every last Thursday of the month, debuting at 6 p.m. Jan. 31, in FitzGerald’s SideBar Music Room, 6615 W. Roosevelt Road, Berwyn. It will feature soups prepared by local chefs and restaurants, including such spots as Autre Monde, Capri Ristorante and Big Guys Sausage Stand. The first event will benefit CBS Anti-Hunger Foundation, a 25-year-old organization that serves 200 families every week in Berwyn, Cicero and Stickney. DADDY-DAUGHTER DATE NIGHT Grab your dad and your country boots and head to La Grange Park’s Daddy-Daughter Date Night at “Recreation Ranch,” offered through the Community Park District.
