Term 1 wrap!

Enjoyable & Fun

This newsletter is long overdue! It has been non-stop since Early January when I attended Ready Set Dance & ATOD Training with my team in Melbourne. We welcomed Annaleise, Zoe, Jordyn & Anita to our Team and the return of Alyce as my assistant which helped immensely in January. We announced we are now the Official location for Ready Set Ballet & Ready Set Dance in Bendigo! We ran 2 preschool workshops at Lake Weerona on Australia Day which were lots of fun! I believe in investing in myself & my staff with ongoing Professional Development to ensure safe dance practices are taught in a child safe environment with programs that are leading the way nationally & internationally.  Our Child Safe Policy is supplied on enrolment and updated regularly. These policies are law but sadly not enforced in our unregulated industry. We started the term with a massive day which included our Staff induction, Team training and Ready Set Dance Open Day! We also ran 2 taster classes at preschools.  Ready Set Dance started on Nick Jnr. and we have learnt & added lots of new songs to our lesson plans, which have been a hit! We announced we are Affiliate partners for the DanceStep program to guide and train our students from 10 years of age into leaders and assistant teachers. It is always a very busy term making sure everyone is placed in the best class and assisting lots of new families with trials while guiding and supporting my teaching team. It has been so rewarding to see the progress all classes are making, special shout out to Bronze Medal Jazz, I watched them last night and wow! Well done Annaleise and girls! Keep up the awesome work. The other class that has really impressed us is our Thursday Ready Set Ballet class, they are all so focused and listen to everything their teachers say. Very impressive for 2-4 year olds! A joy to watch. Viewing week is coming up soon. Please check the diary for dates (note Thursday viewing week will be a week early due to Annaleise performing the last week of term). Also note our first ever Preschool concert, Exam dates, Photo day & Concert dates which are all in our SSD Handbook. We currently have a construction site next door. Apologies for any inconvenience this will cause in the short term. It will be great to see a new building there which will enhance the area. The owners are building offices/shops. Thankyou to everyone for your ongoing support & care of our studio and it’s culture. Enjoy this beautiful weather! Sharon x Sharon Saunders

We are very excited to be a registered affiliate studio and member of the DanceStep program. Offered in partnership with studio teachers, DanceStep empowers students to take care of others and guides them to be leaders and role models. The program covers assistant teaching skills such as behaviour management, different learning needs and styles, Safe Dance Principles and Anatomy to name just a few. These concepts are broken down to be taught in a sequential and age appropriate way to children from ten or eleven years of age. Whether students are considering a career in dance teaching or otherwise, the DanceStep program is a great preparation for many aspects of life. DanceStep, a 4 level Student Teacher Education Program, builds on this philosophy and provides a progressive and formalised process including both practical and theoretical components. We would like to welcome our Inauguaral DanceStep participants, Ali Martin, Sasha Waters, Taylah Petrusma, Tshari Brown and Olivia Furmanczyk. Our first official training will be held from 1pm-3pm. It’s not too late for other students to apply and join us. Just email Sharon for an application form and information. Requirements: assist once a week in a class, complete workbook throughout the year and attend training the Sunday before Term commences. Minimum age 10 years. Participants are mentored by Sharon Saunders and learn from weekly videos from DanceStep founder Jane Grech through Movitae.
