Letter from the Recreation Department

What a summer! The Recreation Department was in full swing with summer programs, activities and special events. Massapoag Sports Program and Sailing returned to action this summer along with the Summer Concert Series at the Lake. A special thank you goes out to all of our dedicated summer staff including lifeguards, gate guards, camp counselors, and of course our summer leadership team including Program Director, Victoria Ruzzo, Pre-K Sports Supervisor, Kerry Soby, Massapoag Sports Program Supervisor, Spencer Dennis, and Head Sailing Instructor, Sam Honor. The Recreation Department would like to specifically recognize the efforts of Waterfront Director Mary Griffin. For several summers, Mary has supervised our waterfront staff and put in many hours ensuring that Lake Massapoag is a safe and friendly place to visit. She has conducted weekly in-service trainings to keep lifeguards fresh on their rescue skills and knowledge. Even on the hottest and busiest days, Mary always wears a smile and keeps things running at the beach. Her contributions and everything she brings to the Recreation Department each summer will be irreplaceable, and we wish her the best of luck in her future pursuits. On behalf of the Recreation Department and the people of Sharon, thank you Mary! We hope the programs and events listed in this guide will help offer you the opportunity to continue activities you enjoy, or perhaps try something new! Happy Fall! Sincerely,

Sharon Recreation Department is a proud member of: National Recreation & Park Association Massachusetts Recreation & Park Association South Shore Regional Group

Student Parking Passes

Starting August 4th, you can purchase school year 2022-23 student parking passes for $125 each. Fee will be reduced to $75 if you purchase after February 15th. As you drive in the lot, only use parking spaces to the right hand side (towards Gunhouse Street). Parking on the other side of the lot is reserved for residents who want to enjoy the lake. Please note: this lot is not always plowed immediately. DPW does their best to get to it but the other areas in town do take priority. Do not park near the entrance of the beach. This bottlenecks the traffic and causes delays to get in and out of the lot. NEW! PER SHARON POLICE DEPARTMENT: This year you must affix your window cling to your top FRONT passenger window. This will not obstruct your vision. Plate number MUST match license plate on the cling or you will be subject to a ticket. Only one plate per student is permitted. Please visit the Sharon Recreation Department during operating hours to secure your pass.
