BACK TO CLASSICS Location: 635 Queen Street West Client: Chanel Boutique Name: Coco Merchandise: Chanel Fine Jewellery Line Target Market: High Class Clientele from Toronto and Worldwide

The concept ‘Back to Classics’ is inspired by the well known Chanel Pearl and classic architecture seen in the original Chanel Boutique in Paris, France. The COCO boutique will feature a grande curved stair inspired by the Chanel stair with panelled mirrors and glamorous railings creating the focal point in the retail environment. Branding will be seen throughout the store with inlays of the COCO logo on the black granite floors and white walls with black trim. A touch of dusty rose tones throughout the boutique give a feminine touch to the architecturally strong features. The intended path of circulation in the fine jewellery boutique is free flowing with displays throughout the store, from the front (platinum) to the back of the store (bronze), creating a variety of experiences as the Clientele shops all the merchandise. A consultation setting is created with lounge seating and a beverage area for employees and Clientele to have a smooth shopping and selling experience. The boutique will feature a variety of private to public spaces while still implementing the free flowing circulation of the space. The front facade of the boutique will be cladded in white granite with brass detailing,featuring 2 window displays framed beautifully resembling glamorous pictures.

Mouldings seen in figure 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10 inspire the wall detail in the jewellery boutique and the architectural features in the boutique will reflect the classic Chanel design.

The pearls seen in figure 1 and 4 inspire the repetition of circles are curves throughout the design and the materials and finishes used.

Figure 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11 inspire the stair design and detail in the retail boutique. The curved stair that will be featured in the retail boutique will include panelled mirrors inspired the classic Chanel stair. The railings will be classic and seamless with eh overall design with acrylic banisters.

(1)The forms and curves in the space inspired by the classic Chanel pearl and architecture promote a path of circulation that allows the view of every merchandise displayed.

(3)The clientele would walk into this boutique and immediately be greeted by the employees and served Champagne while sitting in the lounge area which is elegantly framed by the curved stairs leading to the mezzanine and receiving a consultation simultaneously.

(2)The retail boutique was designed to accommodate all abilities and disabilities. It is universally designed with comfortable clearances, with the 5’-6” turning radius in consideration, the cash desk with accessible heights and space underneath, and a barrier free washroom located on the second level.

(2)Brass trim is featured along the mezzanine and stairs to bring reflecting surfaces in the space while incorporating one of the well known Chanel colours: Gold.
