The “Christmas In October” is another great opportunity to help Sharing Hope continue our ministry to assist incarcerated women in the State of Texas, in their recovery from destructive behavior by sharing God’s love and hope though the teaching of His Word. Some of the exciting things that can be found at “Christmas in October” are a wide variety of booths that offer gifts and handmade crafts. This is sure to help you get started on the holiday season. While you are there, stop by and the beautiful Sharing Hope quilt. A $1 dollar donation will give you a chance to take this wonderful quilt home. We are also gearing up for one of Amarillo’s largest Bake Sales. If you have not participated in this event, you will be amazed at the sea of fabulous food. Can you help? Check out the items needed in the “HELP” section.

Satur day Workday Schedule

Sharing Hope Ministry Has Several Needs: ❖ People to rent booths at the “Christmas in October” event. Contact the office for more details. ❖ People who can paint wooden containers in holiday themes for the “Christmas in October” Bake Sale

New or current volunteers are welcome the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. to mail Bibles or work on projects. In case of holidays, we move the workday to the 2nd Saturday of the month. We have group projects available for organizations. The Next work days are scheduled for:

❖ Supplies for decorating the food items. Gift cards from Hobby Lobby and Michaels or donations of “wire” ribbon in holiday themes or colors, holiday plates and clear cellophane wrap are also needed. ❖ Hundreds of volunteers are also needed to provide baked items, candies, teas and special treats. These can be delivered to the Paramount Terrace Christian Church Gym on September 29th after 1:30 p.m. or on the 30th. We’ll need lots of help on those 2 days to “fluff and foof” the baked goods. If you are interested in helping, contact the Sharing Hope office at 358-7803. ❖ Provide or help make white tablecloths to fit 8’ rectangular tables.

August 6 & September 10

❖ Yard work-pruning and trash removal from the office yard ❖ More Pen Pal volunteers. Can we come to your Bible study class to talk about the Pen Pal Program?

Come try us out!

❖ Receptionist for one afternoon a week.

TASTE -of- GOODNESS Sharing Hope Cookbook The “Taste of Goodness” cookbook has arrived and is already getting rave reviews! Volunteers, board members and staff have put together 500 wonderful recipes for our first ever cookbook. The cookbook is a hard-back 3 ring binder and is available at a cost of $12.50 each. Cookbooks can be purchased through the Sharing Hope Office. Please feel free to stop in or emailed your request to These cookbooks make great Christmas presents and are great gifts for any occasion. Please help support Sharing Hope Ministry by committing to purchase one or more of these cookbooks. Proceeds will be used to help incarcerated women experience God’s love, encouraging them to make changes in their lives to break the chains of destructive behavior. Page 2

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT Sharing Hope Ministry, Inc. has several different ministry opportunities available. This month we will highlight those opportunities as an office volunteer. “It is through your guidance and studies that I am the person I am today. I just wanted to let you know that your ministry is appreciated. I am no longer the “lost-soul” I once was. God Bless you” Patricia - June 2005 (released April 2005) Patricia first requested her Bible in October of 2004 when she attended prayer sessions utilizing the Life Recover Bible with other inmates in Plane State Jail. Patricia had been borrowing a friend’s King James Version but was finding it difficult to understand. A dedicated office volunteer sent her a Bible along with Psalm 23 as encouragement. Patricia wrote back in November, “…this Bible clearly explains everything in layman’s terms. Thank God and thank Sharing Hope Ministries. Do you have any Bible studies? I’m so excited about what I’m learning”.

Christians such as yourself, I have just the strength I need to stay on a clean drug-free God-fearing lifestyle.”

Volunteers started Patricia in the Bible study program. Each time Patricia completed a study, she would write back summarizing what she learned and asking for a new study. In six months, Patricia completed 7 studies. Her last correspondence in jail explained that she was an addict and her family had been torn apart by her bad choices and addiction but due to the changes she made through God, she was going to be reunited with them.

Sharing Hope now sends out an average of 600 Bibles and 297 Bible studies each month. Volunteers are utilized in every step of sending out these requests. Not only do we need women to package the Bibles and study material but there is also a need for women to answer phones, make folders and sort the mail. Contact the Sharing Hope office if you would like more information on becoming a volunteer.

Patricia took the first step in establishing a relationship with Christ by joining a study group in jail and requesting her Bible and study material. She was encouraged in every step by caring volunteers that provided not only the Bibles and study material but the encouragement and prayer that she could stay strong in her relationship with Christ.

Patricia’s story does not end here. She wrote shortly after her release that “by God’s good graces, blessings and interested
