HANGAR 5 measures 51,667 sq ft, with additional offices measuring at 3,666 sq ft. 223ft at it’s widest point, is 328ft in length (including the ancillary building) and is 79ft high at it’s highest point in the main section.

Located alongside wide and narrow-body aircraft paint facilities, the hangar has excellent access to the airfield and is located in the non-critical secure area, uniquely allowing the operator to control security and access in accordance with approved procedures. Adjacent landside to the hangar are several aircraft parts companies offering ship-shop-ship component repair capabilities in interiors, flight controls, tanks, galley parts, as well as sheet metal and composite repairs in addition to exchange sales. 16


The hangar was initially designed and built to perform line and light base maintenance on A330 aircraft in support of a home-based airline.

Since then, it has been used for base maintenance, aircraft part-out and transition activity and improvements such as additional car parking and office facilities greatly facilitate these versatilities.

The hangar is bounded by 215mm thick blockwork walls to a height of 7.2ft and a profiled insulated panel above. The roof cover is also a profiled insulated panel.

The 43ft high hangar doors are electronically operated with vision panels at the bottom. 4 number doors slide open each side from the centre point on housing guide rails. A 23ft high x 16ft wide plane tail gate opens vertically at the centre of the hangar.
