Electromagnetic forces A fundamental force in nature, the electromagnetic force acts between charged particles and is the combination of all electrical and magnetic forces. The electromagnetic force can be attractive or repulsive. Electromagnetic Forces are classified as 1.Electromagnet 2.Cathode rays

Magnetic Effect of Current The current flowing through a straight wire will have a magnetic field around it. Electromagnets are used in various places 1.Circuit breaker 2.Relays 3.Loudspeakers


Fleming’s Left -Hand Rule Whenever a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, the conductor experiences a force which is perpendicular to both the magnetic field and the direction of current. In this, First finger - direction of magnetic field Second finger- direction of current Thumb - movements of the wire.


Cathode Rays Cathode rays are a beam of electrons emitted from the cathode of a high-vacuum tube.


CRO- Cathode Ray Oscilloscope Cathode rays are beams of electrons produced by thermionic emission in a vacuum tube.
