How did Carta Bella get its start as a company? “Carta Bella Paper was launched in April of 2012 with the "Beautiful Moments" collection. Carta Bella was an instant success and quickly became identified as a high-quality, sister brand to Echo Park Paper.”

Was it already planned as a “phase two” when Echo Park Paper was started? “While the creation of a second brand was not an initial part of our business plan, we soon recognized after launching Echo Park Paper that there was a need in the marketplace for a brand that focused primarily on high quality textured paper.”

Why a second company instead of just adding to the releases of Echo Park Paper? “As we contemplated adding collections using textured paper, we felt that it was important to provide a brand distinction that would make it easy for both our retail partners and consumers to immediately identify the difference in our products. In other words, if you are buying paper with the Carta Bella brand, you know without question it will be a heavy-weight textured paper. And similarly, if you are buying paper with the Echo Park brand, you know it will be high-quality cardstock, but it will not be textured. Had we kept both product types under the Echo Park brand, this distinction would not necessarily be clear to our customers.”
