The healing powers of taking a bath with salt from the Dead Sea has been known about for thousands of years but has only recently become a hot topic among those who are looking for alternative medicine who live outside the "alternative medicine" community. If you're planning on using Dead Sea bath salt to treat psoriasis, eczema, or even for just muscular aches and pains it's important that you choose the right salts. We are not talking about Epsom salts here or typical bath salts you might find at the local drugstores. Nor are we talking about the sea salt that you buy to replace your table salt. What Is Bath Lifts For Sale "Sea salt" is manufactured through a simple process of taking sea water and evaporating all the moisture thus leaving you with the residual minerals found in that water. All sea water is not created equal so neither are all sea salts.
It is the general consensus that salt forom the Dead Sea has the most therapeutic benefits than any other sea salt available. You must be careful however that this salt has not been processed and had all of the vital minerals removed before being sold. It is also believed the best salt comes from the Adovia region of the Dead Sea.
How to spot poor quality Dead Sea salt? First beware of anything too cheap. High quality salt from the Dead Sea should set you back $2.50-$3.00 a lb. Beware also of salts that look bleached. The genuine article should be slightly off white, something that is hard to spot in photos especially on a computer. I suggest only buying from companies that offer certificates of authenticity. Lastly, look at the mineral content. At one time if you didn't have some connections in the natural products world you could only get a Dead Sea salt bath if you could afford expensive spa trips. Now a bath with salt from the Dead Sea is available to everyone. Just make sure you know what you're buying.
It's important to understand that what we are calling "salts" are actually a variety of minerals that are left when the water from the Dead sea is evaporated. The genuine product should contain about 33% magnesium chloride, about 24% potassium chloride and only about 5-6% of sodium chloride (common table salt). Get the ingredient list before you agree to purchase any bath salt that is claimed to be from the Dead Sea. It is also important to note that if you plan to do a full body bath you will need to use about 4.4 lbs of the salts to receive the desired therapeutic effects. Any bath that is a partial should have about 10% salts in it. Now this something you may not have expected as traditional bath salts rarely call for that kind of volume of salts but we're talking about traditional bath salts here. Those small packages that you see for sale are for making sea salt facial scrubs, not taking full baths in.
