San Francisco, CA – Today San Francisco Housing Authority (SFHA) Commission President, Revered Amos Brown Sr. announced his support and acknowledgement of five new Commissioners who will commence the new year guiding the directives and policies that shape business operations at the Authority. “I welcome with great enthusiasm, new Commissioners Ahsha Safai, Mirian Saez, Micah Allen, Dr. Veronica Hunnicutt, and Dorothy Smith. Each of these new Commissioners provide the momentum, institutional knowledge, and leadership skills that the Authority needs to continue the progress we have made to date in a number of key categories, including, technology, energy conservation, resident relations, fiscal stability, as examples,” said President Brown. The five new commissioners join President Amos Brown Sr. and Commissioner Matthew Schwartz. Two of the five new commissioners are resident commissioners who live in public housing sites in the City. Commissioner Micah Allen appointed in November, will represent family housing sites in San Francisco. Ms. Dorothy Smith, who was appointed in December will represent senior and disabled public housing sites throughout the City. Also appointed late last year by outgoing Mayor Gavin Newsom, is new Commissioner Ahsha Safai, a neighborhood activist with strong roots in the labor community and political action front on the local, state, and national level. Commissioner Mirian Saez, currently the Director of Treasure Island, is the former Interim Executive Director of the San Francisco Housing Authority and has a proven track record of understanding the complex inner workings of the agency and she has joined the Board of Commissioners as well. Lastly, outgoing San Francisco Mayor has also appointed Dr. Veronica Hunnicutt to the Board of Commissioners of the San Francisco Housing Authority for her dedicated and committed service to advancing the educational goals of students throughout the City as well as her connection to the local community.
