Companions, To all those that attended the recent Installation of CA Chapter No. 1 RAM and CA Commandery No. 1 KT, I hope that you will make an extra effort to thank Janet Price for all of her efforts for such a beautiful table setting and success. Janet had to transport all of the table decorations, food, cooking pots, and pans, serving trays, etc. from San Mateo Lodge to Francis Drake Lodge and back; besides coordinating all the cooking, set up, and cleaning. I can’t say enough for all she did for us! And she even had time to bake her special cookies! As we applaud our brothers 3x3, we need to say to Janet: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! And to all the others who helped set up and clean up! The next event is our Sweetheart’s Brunch that our Commander Tony Cimarra has arranged for us on February 11th. Please be sure to sign up early to reserve your spot. You don’t want to miss Tony’s surprises for you! I want to take this opportunity to notify all our Companions and all those that read this Newsletter about the upcoming Central Coast Counties York Rite Association (CCCYRA) Festival now scheduled for Saturday’s, May 11th and June 9th. I was informed that I was “lucky” to be selected as Chairperson for this event for 2012 and my first task was to confirm the dates which were predicated on the availability of the Palo Alto Lodge and scheduled Grand York Rite Sessions in Bakersfield May 19th23rd. Now that you know the DATES, you will need to confirm your respective San Francisco and Peninsula York Rite Bodies participation as noted in the calendar. We also need to prepare our candidates and ourselves for the RAM Mark Master Degree which will NOT be performed at the CCCYRA Festival before May 11th. I have sent this notice via email and regular mail to all the Secretaries/Recorders so please be sure to discuss this at your next conclave/convocation/meeting. The sooner we hear from you the sooner we can confirm the Degree Teams and/or find replacements. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Hope to see you at the next Stated Convocation! Please save March 31st for Sid Ponds Lifetime Achievement Award Presentation! In Peace, Love, and Unity, Mori Moriuchi

Companions, The month of January is finally behind us, and all the installations are in the rear view mirror. As we look forward, the upcoming Cryptic year looks very challenging as this is my first time in the East. With your support and help I believe we will continue to be one of the strongest and biggest Councils going. The installation was a huge success. I have to give a big THANK YOU to Janet Price for the wonderful meal with all the trimmings, and all the beautiful decorations. I would like to acknowledge Janet's support to so many of our various Masonic bodies and their Installations over the last month and her unwavering support. I cannot forget the work of the installing team which was headed by The Most Illustrious Bob Whitfield, and Right Illustrious Bill Price and Nick Raisis past I.M., your work was greatly appreciated, and your support is invaluable. THANK YOU! Our officers’ coach Worshipful Ted Lyau would like to schedule a practice in March so we can work on putting on the Royal and Select Masters degrees at the CCCYRA festival in May, for more info please call Ted. Come join us for breakfast at our next stated meeting in February on the 4th, starting at 9:00 AM. Just a little reminder to be safe during Super Bowl weekend.

Fraternally yours, George Terry

Sir Knights, First of all, on behalf of team 2012, please accept our deepest appreciation to all who made our Officers’ Installation on 01/07/2012 successful. To Lady Janet Price, who not only created an elegant and inviting dining atmosphere, but also ensured that we all enjoy mouthwatering appetizers, scrumptious dinner, and hard to resist dessert selections. Thank you very much. Also, many thanks to SK Johnny Sanchez, Lady Gina Sanchez, and Lady Amanda Price for assisting our guest; to the brethren of Francis Lodge No. 376 for helping Lady Leila and Lady Nenita Froilan in setting up the tables the night before, and the Sir Knights who not only stayed late after the party to help clean up, but also came back the next day and returned the items used in the ceremony and reception at both San Mateo Lodge 226 and Mission Lodge 169 - Sir Knights Mori Moruchi, Nick Cruzata, Albert Jacinto, Froilan Ancheta, Bill Price, and of course the San Leandro boys –SK’s Arnie Tabinas, Edwin Dimarucut, Mike Tagulao, and Jesse de la Cruz - thank you; to Sir Knights Ted Lyau and Sidney Pond, thanks for the advice on program planning, but most importantly, YOU, for sharing your busy time with us as my corps of officers and myself turn another page in our Masonic journey, THANK YOU! Secondly, February is the month that we celebrate Valentine’s Day. It is a day that we express our feelings and renew the bond of love we share with our better half. To make this Valentine’s Day memorable for our beloved, the San Francisco and Peninsula York Rite Bodies, invites you to join us in our joint Valentine Luncheon to be held at Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Foster City on February 11, 2012 from 10:30AM to 2:30PM. It will be a day of fun, fellowship, good Italian buffet, prizes, and surprises. For more details, please refer to the flyer sent out earlier or contact Sir Knight Ted Lyau for reservation. Companions, We have a busy capitular year ahead of us! We started off with our installation of officers, which was well received on January 21st with San Mateo Masonic Lodge as our host. Our dinner was prepared by John Sanchez and Janet Price. We had several Grand Officers to assist in the opening of our Chapter in Ample form. On February 11th, we will have our joint York Rite Sweethearts Luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn in San Mateo from 10:30-2:30 PM. Please make sure your reservation is in on time. Our Chapter is planning on having a coming home event in the month of April. This will be similar to the Blue Lodge event held several years ago, which brought many veteran members back to the Lodge with which they had not been at for some time. I wish to revive our Chapter by strengthening our numbers by the means of our membership. Companion Robert O'Dwyer is the chairman of our coming home committee. If anyone wishes to assist in the phone team or being a driver for our elderly companions to get them to the Lodge, contact either myself or companion O'Dwyer. We will have a joint degree session in Palo Alto on Saturdays May 12th and June 9th. Please show your support for our new companions by showing up on the 12th as they round out their Chapter Degrees. The registration is at 8:30 AM, degrees to begin at 9:00 AM. If you have any desire to assist in degree work or anything to help our Chapter improve, don't hesitate to call me or show up at our stated meetings on the first Wednesday of the month. We welcome all opinions and criticisms of the jobs we have or haven't done. We can only grow by knowing where we have failed in the past. Thank you and may God bless you and your families.

Sir Knights, Our Commandery has been blessed with 132 years of history and tradition. In the context of those 132 years, we begin to realize that those who preceded us placed their trust in us to do as they did and hand it off to our successors with the same best wishes and best intentions so that our Commandery and the practice of Masonry will long live beyond our temporary stewardship. We are part of the living history of our Commandery. It is up to us to ensure that it continues. It will only do so if we continue to support its precepts and can only occur if each of us actively partakes in all its endeavors. We are all aware that our great Order is currently suffering from certain setbacks. Not many new members are forthcoming to join the Order. And so together, we must pledge our united effort to conquer the greatest challenge facing us today, that of declining membership and attendance. We do not measure our strength in terms of numbers alone but each organization must have good numbers to thrive. Towards this end, I ask every Sir Knight to aim toward the goal of increasing our membership by enthusiastically promoting Commandery and our beautiful Orders to our fellow Christian Masons. Part of that promotion means attending and participating in as many activities as we can inside and outside of our Commandery, and this includes Blue Lodges, Chapter, Council, Valley, and other Masonic appendant bodies. Take that extra effort to communicate with a Christian Brother about our Commandery and the further knowledge and enlightenment that the Order offers. As we are proud to be able to wear the uniform of a Knights Templar, we should be more proud to share with our fraternal Brothers the path to becoming a Chivalric Mason.

Sincerely and Fraternally, Alberto T. Jacinto

•Ted’s Tidbits• This version about one of King Solomon’s acts of wisdom was printed in the South Carolina Masonic Light and is presented as a school boy’s composition on the wise King Solomon. “King Solomun wuz a man who lived so meny years in the country that he wuz the hole push. Seating will be limited. When making your reservations please remember to note whether you are reserving for one or two so that we can get an accurate count on the reservations. We will be honoring Sidney Pond on March 31st at San Mateo Masonic Center as he will be receiving the York Rite Lifetime Achievement Award. This event will start at 4 PM and is open to all but we will need you to make reservations to this event as we don’t want to run out of food. If you want to learn or practice with your sword work, our Drill Team is in full swing practicing again for the upcoming Drill Competition at Grand Sessions in May. Attend one of their practices and help filled the lines while learning how to handle your sword. They will be going over the entire sword manual and you can get great tips on handling the sword. Reading all the bulletins that I have been receiving, I learned that Bill Arney is getting active again in the Blue Lodge as he is serving as Senior Deacon in Marin Lodge in San Rafael. There is no one better who does the staircase lecture than Bill. Also congratulations to Sam Yee as he was installed as President of the Chinese Acacia Club last month. Our condolences go to Tom Lee, who was our Treasurer during the 1990’s, who lost his wife, Cathy. Our prayers are for you. Till next month,
