Preface: On ‘Reveal’
I define reveal as such a moment: when men perceive another world beyond things we know about and beyond things visible. This world is a maze composed of the pacity of human beings and the complexity of everyday life. Following the line tracked by architecture, we reach those scenes that spread across the world but unknown to us: open or closed windows, walls, aisles, doors, they are all revealed to us under a new light. We ignored things because we are so used to them. We will rediscover human beings and everyday life through new approaches given by architecture. So architecture for me is not about creating a brand-new world, but to reveal new value and fresh aspects of existing things.

01.Hermit House Artist residence
academic/ individual work/ 2017.07-08 Tutor: Yun Zhang
The true hermit is a paradox: with the aversion to all the fuss and troubles on the earth and also the desire to be understood and discovered, he always lives in the contradiction between hiding and showing. Traditional Chinese conception of space is about organization of a space structure combining each individual unit. Space is organized experientially, such as movement through the landscape implies one's progress to enlightment or knowledge. The very concept of this project is to resolve a hermit's dilemma by creating a spatial journey consists of several space units as a metaphor of his existence in the psychological and social dimensions.

A paradox between hide and show The painting shows how ancient hermits place themselves in this world. The story starts with a house on the bottom which indicates urban environment outside the frame, upon the house there is a zigzag path including a bridge. The path leads to the front landscape which serves as a gate to the living place. Upon the living space there is the back landscape which is a interim between the hermit's living place and nature. By settling their existence through such expanding spatial series, they state their attitude: locate between nature and society, between hide and show.
Front Landscape SOCIETY
An hermit house is not only a physical shelter, but a spatial series which address the way hermit exists in the psychological and social dimensions.

Site : Located in a mountainous area in Hangzhou, the site seats on the foot of the hill between a mountain and a village near a belt freeway. The village lives on tea industry, but attracts more and more artists because of its tranquil nature.

ortant element in Chinese architecture and garden. The exhibition rooms in hermit house use a to create a rich variety of space. For hermits, their art works and collections entertain the guests as s of themselves, and a experence of 'hide and show' is created when the wall determines the tour line.

02.University Icons Waterfront public space
academic/ individual work/ 2017.06-09 Tutor: Deng Yunlan Icon, a word which Kevin Lynch would call it ‘image’, while Guy Debord would call it 'spectacle', is an abstract cognition that intensifies the image of objects by symbolic representation. The site is an inactivated centre in Zhejiang University. As many others University public space in University, it shows the absence of both abundant activities and spiritual meaning. These icons try to spiritual centre of the university by capturing the structure and individuality of surroundings within a framework of poetic sensitivity to the site.

03.Mirroring the Sky
Tianmanmen Square monumental space
personal/ individual work/2017.10-11
A true monument separates the viewer from the outside. Tiananmen Square locates in the centre of Beijing, which is the capital of China. It is a place glutted with political symbols but lacks of communication with the public with its 44 hectares space. The project is a rethinking of monuments. It is like a mark on the ground, a sunken garden in Tiananmen Square. It offers a experience for the pubic to escape from the dense concentration of political symbols and view the sky from below the horizon. When they get closer to the earth, the sky appears, and brings a reflection of peace and eternity.

It is a journey about escaping the outside world and entering another world. The slope after the entrance guide visitors to below the horizon. The narrow slope and the walls intends to lead the visitor and wipe away the outside view little by little, and it is a surprise when visitors come to the centre of the garden: a invitation to the sky.
Metaphor of Peace and Eternity The name of the square 'Tiananmen' means 'peaceful sky'. In traditional Chinese cognition of the world, the form of sky is circle and ground is square. The form of the project combines the two elements to create a ancient model of universe. On the middle of the wall there is a concrete gnomon, which casts shadow like the ancient timer in China. The time is a metaphor of eternity.

A Journey to rediscover the sky
I passed through one symbol after another, just to find more people in crowds, but hard to find a uncrowded corner. A red garden suddenly appeared.
The wall gradually blocked the hustle and bustle outside, the slope seemsed to lead me to another world underground.
‘What's behind the corner?'
The outside world is leaving, when I got closer to the water in the centre, I discovered a new invitation to the sky.
04.Centralization City, Dispersion Souls An elegy for tomorrow
2017 'i.FUTURE' Competition for Future Cities team work/ 2017.03-04 collaborators: Yang Xiaoyu, Huang Zhilun All drawings produced by Lu Ziyi except the one on page33
With the rapid development of virtual reality technology and the tendency that human as labor force are is displaced by machines, presence and synchronicity are no longer crucial elements of spatial organization, the old logical organization is expecting an reorganization. Centralization City, Dispersion Souls was for the centralized production mode and decentralized living mode in future. The tower is an efficient logistic centre. Products made by machines in factories on the ground are carried to the tower by hi-speed monorail, being transported and sorted, then distributed to every hovering units by drones. Each hovering living unit has a sphere providing a realistic-like world for work and entertainment and people exchange materials with drones.
Centralization City, Dispersion Souls is for the next form of capitalism. Virtual reality technology and machinery manufacture further aggravates the isolation between individuals, between human and production, and sense experience is the real products of the society.

Since codified information becomes a new medium between people and physical space, the boundary of physical space diminishes.

A Map of Future Logistic Metropolis In future, human lives in the floating units, the ground is completely for production, which is under remote control by people. The tower is more like an growing device absorbing the structures on the ground. It doesn’t destroy the old things, but absorb them into its system, turn these old structures into the factories that serve this system. Products are produced in remote areas first, then reprocessed in more central factories. 34
