The Seven Dials Trust was set up in 1984 to restore one of London’s ‘great public ornaments’ (The Morning Chronicle and
London Advertiser June 10th 1773) and to promote major environmental improvements in Seven Dials. The Sundial Pillar was the first project of its kind in London since Nelson’s Column and largely made by trainee masons.
Since then the Trust, a small voluntary body, has continued to work in partnership with our local authorities, major landowners, national agencies and local amenity groups to promote and bring about exemplary environmental improvements and maintain and enhance the built fabric of this unique and historic conservation area, home to strong and vibrant residential and commercial communities, as well as visitors from all over the world. We have raised over £2m for public realm improvements of which £1.5m has arisen through implementing recommendations in the ‘Seven Dials renaissance Studies’.
