ORLANDO, Fla. - Still shorthanded due to injury, the Seton Hall tennis team pulled out a 5-2 win to snap a nine-match losing streak. The Pirates (2-9) had to forfeit No. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles, but won the other five contests to get their first victory since the opening match of the spring.
COACHING STAFF
For the second straight match, freshman Chloe Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) did not lose a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jennifer Blackburne in the No. 1 singles slot. Senior Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey), junior Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England), and junior Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) all went into three sets, but ultimately came up victorious for the Hall. In doubles, the pairs of Sher and Sunbul along with Kilarski and Verow did their part to take the doubles point

Freshman Chloe Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) continued her dominant week, taking out Clarissa Chen 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles. The game she dropped in the second set was her first concession in three matches. Sophomore Karina Cordero (Maracay Estado Aragua, Venezuela) was impressive in her first match back after injury, winning in the No. 4 spot 6-1, 6-0 over Carla Limon. SHU had to re-form its doubles pairs after senior Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey) left the lineup due to injury. Sher teamed with junior Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) and easily topped the Colonials pair of Carolina Mourao Teixeira and Limon.
